Only white people can be racists. I'll give some reasons why I think this. First if there was a scholarship that only let white people in, that would be a racism. But there are scholarships that let African-Americans and Hispanics in. There is also BET(Black Entertainment Channel), but if there was a WET(White Entertainment Channel) that would be racist. Imagine this, all these white children are beating up a little African boy. You would say that they are racists. But wouldn't it be the same if a bunch of African children were beating up a white boy? I also went to a theme park and they had a Hispanic family day were anyone who was Hispanic got a discount, but there wasn't a White family day because that would be racist. I'm white and not racist, but What are your views and opinions on this subject?

Well to start with by you saying that some person is going to assume you are a racist and that u are degrading the race of blacks and Hispanics, but furthermore you are totally and completely right. i mean we say one thing or another and OMG we are racist but they can say the same words or call us crackers or so on so forth and do they get in trouble, No of course not. Just because we had slavery a long time ago doesn't mean people are gunna still thing of blacks as slaves we thing differently now well most of us do and all that crap is over with. by making us racist by saying or taking an action is just taking away our freedom of speech and the right to protest certain things.

Let's not be ignorant to the facts. Whites always had scholarships and Blacks and Hispanics were not ever granted any....there was a need for minority scholarships.

Whites already control and dominate the media.....though the network acronyms may not specifically say WET, but we can conclude it is based on the mostly White programming....there was a need for a BET (Black Entertainment Channel)

White children beating up Black children.....you mean that didn't happen in this country? I recall stories from my ancestors that would tell if a Black man looked lustfully at a White woman from across the street he was brought to the gallows and hung...not to mention when Master's wife wanted a Black man and Master found out about it the Black man was killed.

Hispanic Family Day???? is this really necessary...of course....when was the last time a White organization acknowledged a minority on a grand scale and offered a discount? Why do you think they have the Latin Grammys? Was Santana or Shakira ever nominated in the regular Grammys? There was once upon a time when Blacks couldn't even get nominations.

Unfortunately, every ethnicity has people who are racist within it. It is a taught trait, not a genetic one and being that this is a country based on democracy....or so called, then everyone exercises their rights to be racist or not. Whites are not the only racists in this country, nor in the world, there are people of the same in Black, Hispanic, Asian, Indian and every other ethnicity as well

It is difficult to answer this without speaking in a way that is not politically correct. All people are individuals, there are no "white peoples opinions" or "black peoples opinions". Every individual can believe things that are negative, unenlightened and unfair about other groups of people. There is also the tolerance in society for one group to be more racist than another. In the United States, in my opinion, it is socially acceptable for African-Americans to to be more racist than it is for European-Americans to be racist. In my own experience, and I have traveled all over the world, the most racist people that I have ever come across have been African-Americans. I am sure that opinion is very much politically incorrect. As proof consider the fact that a publication that catered to the interests of European-Americans would be ruthlessly suppressed. A publication for African-Americans would be barely noticed. This is racist.

You are like soo in my mind its not even funny! I have asked the same questions many a times & never got an answer or lets just say a legit answer. I am married to a black man, so its not that I am picking on the black race or are a racist, I ask him these things as well. It frustrates me to no end with the blatant hypocrisy of all this. I dont think it is fair or right...I have said it over & over again. Whats good for the black community should be good for the white community as well. Why can they have United ***** fund? Black Entertainment, Vibe, Jet, Black scholarships et et et??? Its ok for them to put a color label on theres, but like u said the minute "Whites" want to put a "White label on something, its called racist, Al Sharpton is involved, the NAACP is involved, its a war, its time to riot, picket et et....I think if the black community cant take it, they should not dish it out!! It should be a two way street, whats good for them should be good for "White" too, but its not that way & its not right. I have nothing against blacks, just there "Its only ok for us" attitude!!

I think it has a lot to do with past, present, and future. For so long blacks have been on the "out skirts" of everything, "less than" if you will. In the white man's eye everyone that is not white is "not on his level"; it is easy for you to say that you don't see this when you've never been deprived of something because of the color of your skin. It's easy for you to say this when you have never been stepped on for a promotion or stereo-typed because of the color of your skin. Let's say you and I both held the same level of education and experience. We applied for the same job. We both got the job, but you (a white person) will make more money than me for what other reason is left? Because I happen to be the "wrong" color. It is not fair, but it is the truth. So it is easy for someone of a different race to scream racism when something goes awry, but that's because of what has happened for so long and why. A black man and a white man has the same criminal background and does the exact same crime, but who gets more time? Will the white man even go to jail or will he somehow get a slap on the wrist? Can you tell me why? I deal with the justice system on a regular basis and I see it all the time. Even my white colleagues notice it. Sometimes we're all agasp at what we're seeing. Why? It all reflects back to the past, present and the future. The "BET" is a place where blacks can have some of the things they like because for so long it wasn't mainstreamed. It was called "jungle" musicand was outcast. What do you mean there are no "WET"? Everything is a WET. What the white man says goes. Who decided to change daylight savings time anyway? Just because he could. The future is where the buck has to stop. We have got to start treating everyone as an equal no matter what the color of your skin. Our younger generation is sad in their morals, but one thing I can say- most of them are colorblind.

Others can be racist, but they have rarely been in a position to exercise power over large numbers of white people. No black people owned white people as far as I know, No Asian rounded up whites into internment camps, and no Indians killed off 95% of Europeans in North America.

I don't know about you, but as a white guy, I can't think of a single racial slur against whites that actually hurts my feelings.

I think blacks in particular do take offense because until very recently, within my lifetime, a racial slur could be followed by "get a rope" at any time and they could end up dead. The police would do nothing and in fact might be the ones pulling on the rope.

You mentioned the example of the African kid. Imagine you grew up in Africa, your white ancestors were slaves, and are still a minority in your country, for a hundred years after slavery ended, whites still couldn't vote and could be killed at any time, and a black guy walking by calls you some racial slur. You might wince.

Some white people get that paranoia HERE when they happen to be in the minority in a store or subway car for a few minutes, and that's without centuries of being kicked.

And by the way, there is a White Entertainment Network--it's called FoxNews. You also have a lot of white power people on the radio like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and Sean Hannity. They don't kick blacks every day, but if you wrote them a letter, they'd step it up a bit.

What you are saying is so true. Just look at the Imus incident if you flip it around and make it a black person saying what he said it wouldn't be a big deal. I think its just that people are so concerned with being politicial correct that they are incorrect. It is also a majority and minority thing. Based on the past and history of this country blacks and hispanics had so tough times. So they have their own clubs and organizations since they are the minorities in this country. But its starting to get to the point where if your proud to be white your racist. Its unfair thats life. I wish all this would stop and things were just equal for everyone. No race specific clubs or affirmative action just everyone being treated fairly.

Anyone can be racist no matter what race they are. Most minorities have done a good job of being recognized and gain equal representation, but your right, it is becoming extreme and they are beginning to get more rights and privileges. Minorities and females that are accepted to medical and dental schools have lower average GPAs and standardized test scores than the majority white male because schools researve a number of seats for them to make sure they are represented. So knowing that fact actually creates a biased oppinion towards white male doctors because most educated people know they had to work harder to get there.

because we have allowed it.germans are not hated and scorned for the awful things hitler and his followers did and they should not be what happened over there was so much worse and yes slavery was awful and wrong but the blame falls on more than just a few white people the spaniards and some africans themselves sold their own people out - to think only the whites profited is crazy.no one today is a slave owner or a slave here in the usa thank GOD for that.but dont forget blacks are not the only people who were slaves GODS people were slaves in bible times by the egytians should we hate them all and make every day of their lives misreable too? because of what their ancestors did to our ancestors people none of us will ever know! we need to love and let go of the hate we cannot change the past, but it does not have the right to ruin our futures! amen.

For a long time, racism was a large problem in America. We are the "melting pot", and rely heavily on immigration for our new ideas, so that leads to many different ethnicities living in close proximity to each other. People naturally want to think they're better than others, so they invent reasons, hence racism.

Racism isn't as big a problem as it once was. A couple hundred years ago, although not everyone believed in slavery, most people believed that blacks were inferior. As a culture today, we feel lots of guilt for our racism, so we do a lot of things that I would consider "reverse racism" such as what you have described. The theory is that they will be discriminated against in a bad way, so we need to set them apart in a good way. In the end though, this isn't fair, and I don't think it'll last forever. Especially since virtually everyone will have black blood in them somehow soon.
