Al Sharpton isn't the only black leader who is speaking out about Imus. He is getting most of the press because has a daily bully pulpit on his radio show. He also wants to redeem himself for the whole Tawana Brawley episode and be seen as a more serious leader. His career needs some credibility.

As for whether he would defend a nonblack victim of discrimination the way Jesse Jackson has, I have no idea. But I doubt it

A white person has way too many options to be considered by Al Sharpton. His purpose is to defend people of color in cases where there are limited choices for representation due to racial bias or bigotry. So effectively YEAH, YOU NEED TO BE NON WHITE!

Nope. Case closed.

About a week after the Sean Bell incident, a white police officer was killed in the line of duty in a predominantly black neighborhood.

I dont remember Reverend Al showing up to speak about that one.....

Has any one considered that Imus and Reverend Al might just be in cahoots to bump up their sagging ratings? After all Reverend Al has a long history of manipulating the media.

Just a thought .......and I suppose that makes me a rascist?

If there is plenty of media coverage then maybe a white guy could get some Sharpton love.

Al Sharpton defend someone who isn't black? No.

That would put him in bad with his "constituancy".
