Are the Rutgers women basketball team that bitter about their loss, that they need to focus all of their energy and lash out at a radio host because of a joke of a comment.

Are people that senstive about a joke or is it, that they can't face their own personal dilemma's. I have never faced a person who hasn't joked about one another's race or characteristics.

I guess Don Imus comments which were made publicly that made this a big issue. But doesn't the african-american community on BET or any movies that have african-american comedians joke around about others race.

It was a bad thing to say, but not that big of a deal. Black people seem to think any time anyone makes a joke about race that that person should be banished forever. Like someone else said, listen to BET for 5 minutes and see what they say about other races. Slavery is gone, stop complaining. The Indians had it worse than blacks anyways.

Black people are the only race that subscribe to the theory that they can say whatever they want and use certain words but nobody else can. When's the last time you heard an Asian making fun of the way they drive?

The fact is nobody gives a crap about women's basketbal. They just want some attention. And who knows, maybe they are promiscuous. And I am not a racist, in fact I'm dating a black woman.

ONE problem is that no group of protesters represents the entire group of any segment of society.

I was talking to a white lady who said the same thing. She went on to say that "nappy headed" is not that bad. I told her she left out one word, "Hos". She WENT OFF! Suddenly, as a woman she was offended!

I think it is sad that one has to be the target in order to be offended. When someone uses a derogatory name for any "group" of people, we should ALL be offended.

In a society of free speech, we must grasp the idea that Imus did not break the law, and the company he works for should not be fined or closed by the government. BUT, as a capitalist society, we have to allow companies to put forth whatever stigma they wish to. If the company that employs Imus wants to be seen as a bunch of bigots, then they will have to suffer the wrath of a society that is smart enough to know when enough is enough.

In contrast to the above, I think there is a sound difference between being offended by name calling, and what one deems "immoral". Equal rights for gay people is an example. People will start boycotts over this issue. But we need to learn that one person’s rights end where another’s begins! We have to respect the value of diversity and how the rules of behavior are not always black and white.

If Imus was Howard Stern no one would care. But the caliber of people who appear on his show is the difference between his statement and that of others. When presidential candidates frequent a forum along with academics, and members of the main steam media it has to be held to a different standard. In the same way that shows like Oprah can not get away with saying the types of things said on BET comic view.

Because it IS offensive! Something are better left unsaid or kept to yourself. If you have those type of feelings you need to work them out on your own time not AIRTIME. Joke or no joke it was the wrong KIND of joke...badly worded and with out any hint of humor for the platform in which he was speaking. He needs someone else to write his material (figuratively speaking).

If you have a comedic show you expect stuff like that (and even then you have to be careful) not during a sports talk show. Then its downright nasty and mean....and personal. Common sense would tell you that....think about it.

I think you need to understand that the negative comments about black people stem from the white power structure that we have come accustomed to deal with. Just because we do it to each other doesn't make it right but for a man who has repeatedly made negative comments about black people on more than one occasion in his career isn't just comedic, it's racist. I hear other Chinese talk about Chinese but I would never repeat it because I have no relation to why they joke that way. Look, white people need to take responsibility for what they say and do. I mean they are the dominate culture in this country and they set the tone. Hell, someone said that Jews were such and such they would be screaming anti-semitism and they would be right, and yes I have heard some Hebrews joke on each other about their culture. I again say I would never repeat it.

there's a worldwide view that African American women persons are gruesome. It fuels the worst variety of hatred and discrimination in the direction of black women persons usually. Racism... there is likewise the mentality that judges women persons via visual charm first, or only via visual charm. Sexism... So, as a replace of focused on Rutgers overall performance, this radio DJ had something nasty to assert approximately their visual charm. not all the girls on the group have been black. yet nappy isn't a term you should use for the different type of hair texture - it replaced into fairly geared in the direction of the black pupils. Venus Williams went in the time of the comparable ingredient. additionally, Don Imus had a history of asserting nasty issues approximately lots of persons. that's his modus operandi. i did not understand this because of the fact i had in no way listened to his exhibits. extra importantly than all that, is that it fairly is how the worldwide is often, yet united statesa. fairly. everybody is only getting meaner and meaner and extra issues like this might shop occurring. as a replace of being forces for reliable and peace, they are forces of negativity. shop gazing...

Well white people have treated blacks (and others) like crap for the last 300 years in this country and it's only been the last 40 years that blacks have begun to really voice displeasure at being the racial whipping post for whites. And now whites get all whiny because finally blacks are able to talk back against whites when the previous 250 years, they just took it. People are going to feel how they feel and for blacks (and people like me..i'm asian but I totally understand what's it like to be made fun of on the public airwaves over one's race), this isn't just this one joke...it's the fact that this joke keeps reopening wounds from 300 years of oppression at the hands of whites. It keeps reminding the rest of us how horrible nonwhites are treated. THATS the real insult. The constant reminder that nonwhites are second class citizens.

How would you feel if I called you Puss Gutted Inbred White trash? Don Imus was a well known radio personality or he was a radio personality! Yes his whole persona seemed to be composed of complaining and insulting everyone but he crossed the line.

You JOKE about people you know. You JOKE about people who are in the public eye to be ogled and critiqued. You joke about Britney's snatch or Lindsey's addictions. You DON'T JOKE about 8 girls ethnicity. They did nothing to warrant his comment and yes, it was racist. It's funny how people rally around IMUS, but those rallying around the girls are whiney and overreacting. I believe you're still opening cans of worm here. Who's overreacting now?

I believe that they (especially Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson) have such an inferiority complex that they feel they have to lash out at everyone who isn't black....think about it, black men call their women "ho's" all the time, what does it matter what color ones skin is...it's all a crock of BS if you ask me!!!!!
