To me all the self-described EMO's are what generations before called "slackers". The attempt to make it fashionable has escaped me. Am I missing something?

I am venezuelan and I dont like president Chavez, so I want to know your opinion about venezuelan people, since he has done so many stupid things -in MY opinion- and I want to know if his big mouth and his well known violent and disrespectfull behaviour have afected your opinion about venezuelan people, or you are aware that he is only ONE man, and us, venezuelans are not like him. (if that's the case, what do you think about us then?)

I'm writing a paper about an article about a georgia town which is very divided along black and hispanic lines. the story is about two ministers, one black and one hispanic, who have become friends (for over 10 years now). im writing suggestions on how the two ministers can encourage their communities to engage in positive interaction, and one of my suggestions is to hold a barbeque with both mexican food and "soul food." Im not sure if this is PC (politically correct) or not. is there another way to say "soul food"--you know, collard greens, corn bread, fried chicken, etc etc.--that would be more appropriate for a college essay? or is this the best way to describe traditional southern black cuisine (maybe I should call it that, tho not sure if its more general southern cuisine or considered "african-american food", for lack of a better term. please help!

sensitive as i can, hoping people will actually read the question for what it is and not just rush to conclusions. so...i grew up in a primarily white community. not a lot of exposure to racial diversity. the issue was addressed in school and stuff, though. we were all taught to accept diversity, even though we didn't really live with it. since i've moved on to college and the work force etc...i've truly had the opportunity to experience diversity. i've found that, though i used to be completely accepting of diversity etc., i now find that because of my experiences with it (and i'm not talking a couple of people ruined it for the whole race. i mean every experience.) i'm becoming less and less accepting of other races. or the fact that they want EQUALITY. i'm really getting the impression that minorities just want to squash the whites. and it's not anything i learned from my own race, no. i've learned this from racial minorities, through the discrimination they show. your experience?

I have come across a lot of people who call their grandmother "nan" or "nanny", I always understood that a nanny was a paid (usually live in) childminder, and that the word nanny is actually a childish derivitive of aunt or auntie.
If someone mentions their "nan" I don't automatically assume that they are referring to their grandmother.
One young lady (of poor education) told me that her grandmother was not her grandmother but her "nan", although I am fully aware that the lady in question is in fact her natural grand mother.
So is it a class thing and if so is it upper or lower, to have a nan instead of a granny?

I've just watched on telly some dim-witted anorex stick insect drifting through a shopping centre reciting poetry that doesn't rhyme to herself and ... guess what ... it's an ad for a perfume. You can guarantee that if you get some blokes with chiselled cheekbones and some wafer-thin miserable models on the box and there's water and sea crashing around behind them, then it's going to be a perfume ad. And what about that ad with some poofy sailor bloke and some bloodless ginger-haired woman that looks like she's just been sucked dry by a vampire .. .yes another perfume ad.
Is it just me, or are these ads a lot of pretentious rubbish?

If you live in England and you are white and of Northern European extraction i bet you think you are! If you had your Genes analysed most of you would find out you were actually made up of Eastern European, Middle Eastern, Southern European, Native Indian etc due to population movements over the last thousand years. This has been proved using a sample of English people.

Once you accept this the whole concept of Englishness is thrown on its head! As it racial tension!

Reviewing my 21 Jump Street DVDs, which were made in the late 1980s. They portray racially integrated gangs, which I thought was not normally the case. Aren't most teen gangs racially segregated, and in fact racists of whatever color?

I have always been curious how many Americans actually know what Canada is all about? I've met a few cool American, who don't fit the stereotype, but more often then not, Canada is seen as some cold place full of retards. I've actually been asked if i live in an igloo. They were serious! Also, to all the Americans who drive into Canada in AUGUST with their ski's strapped to the roof of their cars, WE LAUGH AT YOU! Why don't Americans make an effort to show us and our country some respect in movies, or as artists. I hate how we are portrayed by American TV, and i hate the fact that the States are trying to Americanize us with their propaganda. I love my country, and i would love to see an interest shown by the States to learn more about us. Any feedback?

I have noticed that i always hear latino music sung entirely in spanish on the radio, tv, and etc in the US. but, how come there isn't any asian songs in our culture? american culture is more accepting to spanish songs, but not to asian songs; chinese, japanese, etc.

Why is that?

(Pls don't be narrow minded and quickly say I'm racist.)

I've read that Spaniards are composite of Nordic and Mediteranean types but I've never read about Italians.

So, who have more Nordic blood, Spaniards or Italians?
