if the us government gave up the don't ask, don't tell policy and implemented an open policy, would you join?

i just gave an answer that made me a little nostalgic on reports and such i had given in high school and one was on the don't ask, don't tell policy and i was curious if you would join if you could be openly gay and were guarenteed that there would be serious repurcussions for any violence against you based on your sexual orientation?

Ok, while the haters have been distracted by Yahoo! Doing its job here is a real question that I have wanted to ask but haven’t because of the haters.

For the gay people: what is your opinion of the Transgender people in our community? I have posted in my answers a few times that my wife is a Female to Male transgender and will someday be my husband, we both often feel persecuted by members of the GLBT community, which is the one place that we should be safe. I would really like honest opinions; I would love to know what thoughts are behind all the stares or smiles that we get at GLBT events.

I am an american male with a darker shade of brown shown on my skin. I was raised in a home that not only shunned racism, but I was taught to equally love everyone. This was not something that my environment supported. I grew up in a rough neighborhood, but went to a christian school where only about 4 other students were placed into the same category as me (ethnic). I have dated people of all backgrounds and from different contries. But I fall into the category of those who are offended by the hateful words and don't know why exactly, but if I were to use derogatory slang to offend someone different than me it would feel as if I accomplished something (payback). I'ts sad but true. I have even used the N word in situations to compliment and tear down people who are labeled in the same category as myself. I'ts a childlike mentality that I have in my head." If they stop, then I stop" If there were no KKK, then there would have been no Black Panthers.

Yahoo Answers is a great concept. I got some really great feedback to some sersious questions I had and I really enjoy helping others with their questions. As old as I am, you would think that the ugly comments left by some would just roll off my back. I try, but it really does bother me. I am disillusioned by my crazy beliefe that people are bascially good. I want to believe that. I am always amazed on how insensitive people can be. Am I going to let it ruin my day? No. This will just propell me to try harder to be a better person.

My female friend is a little hippie girl and she is wonderful! She has dread locks, and I was just wondering what types of jobs can she get with this look. She really wants to get a decent job, but is not sure her employer will want someone who is a hippie. She showers and bathes, and is very clean, but she loves the freestyle clothes and beads. Curators say a Norwegian exhibition on homosexuality among animals has been well received, despite initial indications of strong opposition.
The Oslo Natural History Museum opened the show last week and says it has been well attended, not least by families.

Hey Yahooers, maybe you can illuminate one of the great Mysteries of the Universe for me: Why do so many straight, hetero males find 2 women together so erotic (I have to plead guilty to the crime myself) and yet I've never met a woman that finds 2 men together anything but a turnoff. This is an interesting gender difference, is it genetic, psychological, cultural, hardwired into us or learned behavior? I've seen this question asked before & never seen a good answer. oooooh, I likes my local vetinary nurse. She is loverly and she laughed at my awful jokes the other day when I picked up my cat.
