When traveling, I've heard that Americans are ignorant in knowledge of the rest of the world. To be honest, I was embarassed, because it is true. I had no idea who most of the European country heads were, or what the issues facing their country are.

My husband and I were standing in line to get into a tourist attraction and I was looking through my stack of discount cards for the one that applied to this particular one when the German tourists ahead started laughing and talking about how many cards I had. My husband overheard them and replied in perfect German that each of those cards saved moneyand they shouldn't laugh. They blushed and turned around and didn't say anything else while we were in earshot.

That we are evil war mongers. That is crazy, sure our leaders right now are nuts, but the people, for the most part are pretty nice and cool.
Only morons judge a whole group of people by the actions of a few.

I had a VC one time call me a running dog of a pig. But his command of English was not good. I understood clearly, however, that he did not like me. Which was too bad he was not armed at the time and I was trying to put a field dressing on his leg. I did not feel hateful toward him.

I heard that people see us Americans as having the same view as our president. That isn't true. We are here because we want to be, but it doesn't mean we agree with everything America stands for to outsiders.

I have heard people from all over the world say that we are stupid, spoiled and lazy. I think the "stupid" comment is the worst.
