true class is classless.
Its about intelligence, curtness, making others feel inferior, which generally they are, or we wouldnt have the phrase "the public".
Middle class suck, they worship tacky material measures of succsess, and work in wharehouses, all be it as management.
Most of the truley dignified, superior minded people, are actually from working class, black, or disabled...look at history, and noted figures, and nobel prize winners. Non were area manager for asda.

I live in Tunbridge Wells which is a very middle class area, although I live in the council estate end. There are a lot of people here who are very snobbish and all of them are middle class. They have no regard for anyone else in the world, only care for themselves and obviously think they are God's gift. It is one of the conditions of being middle class in this country to think that as one has an education and money that one is superior to the common herd. It is no wonder that the Daily Mail is the paper of choice in this town. Having said that, there are a few who are decent people with compassion and courtesy, but there are not many here at all.

I did think all this 'class' stuff had gone away, is it really still around??
I can remember the time when people who had just taken out a mortgage to buy a house, suddenly thought they were 'middle class' and started voting Conservative! It was laughable then and its still laughable now !!
I know a lot of ex public school fellers that I worked with, I got on well with all of them, I dont recall 'class' ever being even discussed!!
And as one of the lowest of the low, class wise, I certainly would have picked up on that!!
So I'm pretty sure that the whole concept of 'classes' is on the way out!! Hopefully along with the remnants of the Conservative party!!

Firstly, you will need to define whom you consider as 'middle class'. What constitutes class identity? Is it speech, accent, the type of home occupied, occupation, culinary tastes, the preference for cricket over football, the ability to recognise the difference between Chateaubriand and McDonalds?

Secondly, your question surely annuls itself. "Middle Classes" predicates more than one class in the middle - this is a contradiction (not an implied contradiction). If a class is in the middle, it cannot be plural. (You have stated "upper class" - this defines there is only one upper class" - if there is only one upper class, there can, logically, only be one middle class)

Thirdly, you have failed to define "snobs". What behaviour, to you, is indicative of a snob? Are all snobs the same - to wit, do they all demonstrate behaviour that you could categorise as that which pertains to snobs and labels them as such? Is the snob to be recognised by dress, manners, speech patterns and accent, or the ability to differentiate between Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, Prokofiev, Henze, Heine and Heinz?

Your question, therefore, cannot be answered with any accuracy or truth.

Because the middle-class is where `new` money` takes them. The `new money` middle classes have earned their dosh the easy and quick way, education and the professions is for old traditional money. The new middle classes have no true class, lack breeding. watch soap operas, drive Jeeps, get their hair highlighted, and think Johnathon Ross is very funny. They all drink Chardonnay wine, and say " right", 5 times a minute. I`m so jealous!!

The snobbery comes from insecurity about social status. Some among the upper classes express insecurity through being snobbish (you can't honestly say Prince Phillip isn't a snob) others don't feel they have anything to prove. Some in the middle classes acutely feel the presence of the class above and feel the need to establish their identity by differentiating themselves from the working class. It works the other way around to. I have found the UK to be profoundly class conscious.

You want to live where I live and you will see upper class snobs at their best. Treat you like the lowest of the low and are only interested in you if they think you will be of some use to them. I'm not saying they are all like it, some are very eccentric and lovely but the vast majority in my area you just want to beat with their riding crops!!
I'm middle class and know a lot of other middle class people, friends and associates and they are lovely and none of us are in the least bit snobby!!

because the middle classes know they are inferior to the upper class, so they compensate by being snobbish towards the working class.

av found the upper class folk to be good fun.
