Government has many assistance programs. And where one might not qualify for
one agency, they might for another. And Government ends up paying anyway.
There are many homeless who are disabled, and connot get Disability benefits. Simply
because Social Security doesn't know how it will pay out in years to come. Used to be any bum could get on it. Shouldn't we re-work the system. Get help for addicts, and weed out the bums?

My 9 yr old daughter started telling some children in school that she is collecting money to donate to the poor, some of her classmates have contributed to this cause. She has opened up a bank account and decided that all of the money she deposits to this specific account is going to go to the poor at the end of the year. She is interested in getting the word out asking others outside of her school for donations as well. She is a very good hearted child and very sincere in wanting to help people in need. Once she collects for the poor her she wants to come up with another charity to collect for next year. I am interested it finding out if anyone knows if it is necessary to create a non-profit organization, if she starts asking the public for donations? We were thinking of creating a website as well...does anyone have any ideas or insight on this topic. I don't know much about doing this and I would like to encourage my daughter with this project. Thank you

Dear people of America,
I am on my school's Debate Team and our topic for this year is national service programs. I was wondering if anyone has served in the Armed Services, Learn and Serve America, Peace Corps, Citizen Corps, Senior Corps, Americorps, or any other national volunteer program. Please specify for how long you served, and which program(s) you served in.
Thanks!!!

I live in California, and I want to start a non-profit agency to help girls and women get a good start or re-start in life. For example, I want to buy a multi-unit apartment complex and have apartments where women can live either in a dorm setting or their own apartment if they have children and offer classes such as resume writing, filling out forms, basics such as applying for SSI, WIC, welfare, etc, and also provide other services to get them back on their feet, like helping them with money mangement, investments, buying property, etc. How do I get started? I need to apply for grants because I don't have the money myself to finance a project like this, but does anyone think this is a good idea? I want to gear this towards women who have been abused, divorced, widowed and young girls who have been in foster care or are pregnant with no where to go. I think we as women, should help each other out of debt and ignorance and I hope this is a good idea.

Does anybody have any good suggestions for four 14 year olds to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Samaritans?
We were hoping to do something original that is also quite cheap.
We can get people to sponsor us, or we can ask for donations - either.
So, does anybody have any ideas? I stress that we are only 14 years old.

Thanks in advance!!

I know..but do YOU? I don't drive (I bike), i'm a vegetarian, I recycle and I'm a greenpeace member ( I also don't shop at stupid franchises like walmart but that's beside the point). Yes i'm not a saint--but seriously--this should be a FIRST priority--we won't have children and health care and schools and higher wages and lower taxes if we don't have an EARTH!

Addictions for sure. But what about the innocents affected by
those with addictions? Partners, children. What about those with
serious emotional problems who can't help themselves?
Do you know you pay trillions in taxes to help the underpriviledged
in this country, only to have people who are supposed to help them
leave them out on the streets to die? Because they have a personal dislike for them, or are having a "bad hair" day? And they
don't even care?
Shouldn't government set the example? Instead of justifying
routine negligence by complaining of paperwork and being
back-logged?
I'm not trying to kill them like they're killing us. It's the stinking
attitude we have to deal with that needs confrontation. And if they make a mistake, they need to correct it!
