Some one said in the boards "MOST Christians are hypocrites"...so my question is...do you KNOW "most" Christians or are you doing the EXACT same thing you think Christians do towards you? Judging? Are you not a hypocrite for doing the same "SOME" do? If not, what makes you correct and not a hypocrite? I just see it as a double standard.

Just a simple question. If you feel that you have to "bash' then thanks for showing the world you character as a person.

We are going to move and I am getting rid of some of my books. I did some a few years ago and it was weird. I am going to take them to the Edgewood Library and let someone else enjoy them. I can always buy new ones when we move. I still hate to see them go. Only the most sentimental will stay.

Serious Bible Students, Please:

More Specifically how does the Catholic version of scripture differ from The King James Version in the presentation of God's Holy 10 Commandments? Are they one in the same? If not, which one is the correct one?

I know they say it has to do with the saliva but what about this verse
"They ask thee what is lawful to them (as food): say: Lawful unto you are (all) things good and pure: and what you have taught your trained hunting animals (to catch) in the manner directed to you by Allah; eat what they catch for you but pronounce the name of Allah over it: and fear Allah; for Allah is swift in taking account. (Surah 5:5)

Trained hunting animals can only be dogs and Allah is saying w/e they catch is Halal so how can their saliva be considered unclean?

There was a recent question about being gay wasn't a choice, but it was just how that person was born. In one of the answers, someone else said that it has been scientifically proven that being gay is not a choice...I have never heard this before and of course the person left no source. I have two questions.

1) Where has it been scientifically proven that being gay is not a choice?

2) If being gay is genetically programmed then:
a) How does one explain identical twins(genetic duplicates) where one is gay and one is straight?

b) If it is genetics, wouldn't it be necessary for one of the parents to also carry the "gay gene"...thus making them "gay"? (and sure, it could be a recessive gene...but without finding the gene no one will ever know).

Coming into the bar and ordering a double, the man leaned over and confided to the bartender, "I'm so pissed off !"

"Oh yeah? What happened?" asked the bartender politely.

"See, I met this beautiful woman who invited me back to her home. We stripped off our clothes and jumped into bed and we were just about to make love when her god damned husband came in the front door. So I had to jump out of the bedroom window and
hang from the ledge by my fingernails!"

"Gee, that's tough!" commiserated the bartender.

"Right, but that's not what really got me aggravated," the customer went on.

"When her husband came into the room he said 'Hey great! You're
naked already! Let me just take a leak.' And damned if the lazy
son of a ***** didn't piss out the window right onto my head?"

"Yeech!" the bartender shook his head. "No wonder you're in a lousy mood."

"Yeah, but I haven't told you what really, really got to me.

Next, I had to listen to them grunting and groaning and when they finished, the husband tossed his condom out of the window.
And where does it land? My damned forehead!"

"Damn, that really is a drag!" says the bartender.

"Oh, I'm not finished. See what really pissed me off was when
the husband had to take a dump. It turns out that their toilet is broken, so he stuck his *** out of the window and let loose right on my head !"

The bartender paled. "That would sure mess up my day."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," the fellow rattled on, "but do you know what
REALLY, REALLY, REALLY pissed me off? When I looked down and saw
that my feet were only SIX inches off the ground!!"

When I look at this category I very rarely see questions regarding spirituality. Most of the questions seem to be about Christians arguing over semantics.

So, I was just wondering if there are people here who are spiritual yet not affliated with any major religion, and if you could share what your beliefs are.

Thank you!

Where it's just different belief that's concerned, why would you have absolutely nothing to do with an ex-Jehovah's Witness, but you feel free to knock on the doors of non-Jehovah's Witnesses on a daily basis? At the very least, shouldn't it be a once only contact at that particular house? If you find out they don't believe...shake the dust from your feet and stay away, just like the shunned ex-JW!

The Bible writes off the monthly menstrual cycle of a female as something evil and sinful. In this day and age, we know that it is necessary part of female health and there is nothing evil or sinful about it. One would think that God would have also known about this. To me, this suggests that the bible was written by men with no understanding of human health and couldn't be the written word of God. What do you think?

If you don't believe in a soul, then what is it that is being reincarnated? Life energies? What would life energies be then if it is something that you would want to be reincarnated, and would you want these energies to revisit this existance as another human being, or wouldn't you want them to visit another existance such as a heavenly one?
