We are going to move and I am getting rid of some of my books. I did some a few years ago and it was weird. I am going to take them to the Edgewood Library and let someone else enjoy them. I can always buy new ones when we move. I still hate to see them go. Only the most sentimental will stay.

You can always send them to me. There is nothing worth more in my world than a good book. And the way the world is going good paper books are going to go out of style one day too. Instead everyone will be listening to some idiot recite the book on a CD. I prefer reading.

I love my books and am unable to throw any of them away or put them in yard sales. Lately though, I have been giving away a book here and there to various grandchildren, children and nieces and nephews. It makes me feel good when I come across a book on my shelves that might give as much pleasure to one of them as it did to me.

Oh do I ever know what you mean. When I moved here last year my daughters tried to get me to reduce my library. I have
somewhat but not so you'd really notice. I have so many wonderful books. Some from when I was a child and from when my ex was a boy that I'm saving for my children. I read only biographies so have so many of them too.

It is hard to do that for me also, but there is only so much room on the shelf. Most of them are recycled for different ones so the total stays the same.

By all means, donate them to your local library. No matter how cold it gets, a good book will always warm your heart both when read and when shared with someone else.

I feel your pain. I've had to cull my library a few times over the decades and it's always left me feeling I'd betrayed a group of friends.

When I feel like that about a book I read, I usually give it to my younger sister to read and I tell her when she's done with it, she can do whatever with it. She usually passes it to a friend, this way it doesn't hurt so much when I part with it, because I know someone else is enjoying it as much as I did.
