Because the BIble says the old law was "nailed to the cross". This means the new law began when Jesus was crucified. Christians believe Jesus was the son of God, so they follow the new testament. The old testament is studied for its history.
To all of you who say you follow the ten commandments - What do you do to keep the Sabbath day holy? Just curious.

It is a matter of convenience for some Christianists and a source for a lot of "Yes but, " attempts to cloud issues and the simple message of the itinerant Rabbi, Yeshua. Apologists mistake a plethora of answers and examples for substance and truth.

we believe the old testament is true
but when christ came down and died,
the things of the old testament also died
the new testamen is for the church today
i think. im only fourteen but remember my dad preaching somthing about it before.
either that or the "Christians" you see say they are but arent living a life that a Christian should. They may be setting a bad name for the rest of us.
by the way, i still follow the 10 commandments.

Most christians I know at least attempt to follow the old testament, particularly the commandments. At least, they try to live up to a certain interpretation of it. Which is all any honest person can do when it comes to the bible, what with all the contradictions and rules that just don't fit modern society.
Read up on some of Mose's laws regarding a woman during her period, it's almost funny.

Jesus had two rules He ask that we love our neighbor and told us not to judge.
The other rules in the bible are for people who are not smart enough to figure these two out.
