In the Christian scriptures, we only have to look as close as the New Testament to find an answer. But it is an answer that you intuitively know. Is having faith in oneself the same as having faith in God? I believe it is. This is a truth also reflected in numerous other scriptures, no matter what one you read.
But if we come at this from the idea that we're separate from God, the truth we seek will elude us.
It is a truth Jesus Christ brought us and demonstrated fully: God is within you. Not only is He inside you, He IS you. Genesis says, we are created in His image and His likeness. This means we are God in much smaller quantities.
So yes, I do believe it is the same thing. Because in the truth of it, it is God in you that accomplishes something. And God has faith in Himself to get the job done, and Faith in you to co-create the reality you're asking for. Hope this helps.

well, I, myself, pray for God to help me--IF it is His will.
Sometimes, things are SOOOO HARD, because God's NOT IN IT!!!
And YES, I KNOW that God gives us the DESIRES OF OUR HEARTS, ---IF we are living for Him.
He will be WITH US through EVERY THING--He will NEVER leave us or forsake us---if we are striving to please God.
You know what I mean?
Just say, "THANK YOU, GOD, that you are going to HELP me accomplish this."
That lets Him KNOW that you BELIEVE that He is with you, through the thick and thin of things!
God LOVES YOU SO MUCH!!

Not necessarily. Faith in god requires a belief in the supernatural. Faith in the ability to accomplish a goal does not always require belief in the supernatural.
To I believe that one day I will own a pony, is different than believing I will one day own a talking pony name Pete.

No, it is not. God is the original of energy that your soul was forged from, like a parent.

Faith in God is faith that someone else (who you can't even prove exists) will do your work for you. I find that doing things for myself is much more effective.

..I have complete faith that I will be able to get up out of this chair and turn the light off. I do not have to suspend my belief in any logic, reason or philosophy in order to entertain this faith.
