it is improbable ANYONE can completely -- 100% -- disbelieve there is a God? Dawkins writes this conclusion is unscientific because there is no proof one way or the other of God's existance. Frankly, I was surprised to read that he felt this way and wondered how many atheists here agree with his conclusion.

Yes, I'm reading 'The God Delusion.'

And no, my "fundie card" won't be revoked, as an atheist friend of mine postulated.

I've heard that the bible states "blasphemy is the mortal sin, never to be forgiven"

I'm a Christian now and I'm worried that I'm doomed to an eternity in hell now, even though I'm a good person and follow the book the best I could.

but christian stuff can not be offensive to non christians. Its just not allowed. If someone gets offended by something christian, then they are just wrong, sad for not knowing the truth, have lost their way, are being fooled, blah blah blah. But anything anti or non-christian is an attack against christians.

Why the double standard?

On a television promotion for a new show on the SPIKE network the announcer uses the term "white trash". Isn't this a racial slur? Why is okay to use racial slurs that refer to white people? Is pay back for past transgressions?

yet we see Born Again people fall under sin's power every day. Is the Bible wrong?

"For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection...For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God...consider yourselves to be dead to sin....
For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace"

If the world is only 6000 years old (and seeing as a lot of oil was extracted from these 'young' fossils) and gas prices are so outrageous, is it time to erect oil rigs in our cemetery's? i mean, gas prices are getting steep.

Isn't it ironic that Muslims and Christians lecture Hindus about the caste based discrimination and the mistreatment of dalits when in fact it is both their religions that are responsible for the mess that India finds itself today???

The caste based discrimination has NOTHING to do with Hinduism as a religion...In India there are millions of people living in poverty who are not "untouchables"...many brahmins (the "upper class") are also living in dire poverty....People seem to think that in India the poor shudras are suffering while the upper castes are driving around in Bentleys...Little do the fools know that in India poverty is something that cuts across caste and creed...The problem isn't Hinduism, but poverty and illiteracy...Do you think that before Muslims and Christians came to India to exploit it and rob its wealth, the "untouchables" were as unhappy as they are today....During India's golden era, the dalits had a much higher standard of living than what they have today.

Didn't God say the same thing?

Why are they on the spiritual and religious site if they don't believe in it and don't like preaching? Why do they want to argue with christians and try to destroy their faith? How can they do this and call themselves a good and decent person?
Christians are just trying to share their faith and experiences with God in order to help others who are in need.
Do you think they are like this because they doubt their own beliefe and can't face it. maybe they get some kind of strength in their belief system by ganging up on christians, and religions.
Do you think that they resist the christian God because they have a fear of loss of control and power, and refuse to be wrong? Or, are they just decieved.

Wally's question about the store and one of the answers saying how she had to wait in the car reminded me of how my mother would leave the four of us in the car (I was the oldest at 5 years old) until one day a man parked next to us and proceeded to shall we say "pleasure himself" while we kids watched. We didn't get left in the car after that.

Grace seems to be a stumbling block for my personality in a "different" way. I"ve been a Jesus lover for 54 years but am always working at trying to be more like Jesus, like the Bible tells us to do. I believe Grace is easier for some personalities than others, but required of all. I'm very good at actions of grace, but in verbal exchange, I have found I tend to jump to "assumptions" of what the other is trying to say and thinking they are : lying, deceiving, misleading, etc. Which unfortuantely happens all too often these days . I have a prophet personality, which is high in justice and fairness. Anyhow, in your heart, what do you think it means to use justice with grace. when you approach someone, if you are taking a grace attitude, what does that mean ? I hope this is clear enough. I am not a new believer, just digging deeper.

I have an opp through my employer to request a transfer to one of these states.

This is what I know.
Oregon: Job would be in Portland. Great scenery, clean air and water, probably the highest quality of life of the five locales, decent people, close to Seattle, no sales tax.

Texas: Currently first pick. Would be in San Antonio. Hill Country, very clean, no income tax, people are great, some of the nicest looking women I've seen, ATX nearby.

Kentucky: would be at Ft. Knox near Louisville. The cost of living is cheap, low crime. I've never been treated nicely there; bad attitudes. I guess if I listened to country music all day, had dirty roadsides and lousy weather I'd be depressed, too.

Tennessee: would be in Nashville, a great city! Beautiful state, nice highways, great recreational opps, friendly folk. Closest to my home state.

New York: would be in Manhattan. Like the people, fast pace, and can-do will-do attitude. It's its own universe! But the cost of living...whoa

No more time to themselves or able to fellowship with friends and family events because you have bills to pay. Spending years to pay off debt that you're working on paying off but have to turn down people's invitations to have fun and do fun things? Is this what life is really all about? People have made bad choices but does that mean that their life is over. Does God want us to really NOT be able to rejoice in thy youth and live life because you have creditors calling you? Depression, Alcholism, Suicide, Homicide, Gas Prices going up, the War in Iraq, (I used to be in the Army by the way), Relationship problems, barely making it day to day, Hell on Earth, I feel I'd be better off in Heaven, and leave these problems that I started partially and the ones that I didn't start here on Earth where they belong. I pray to God everyday for strength in this cold dog eat dog world we live in. I keep my focus on God so I'll be o.k.? Do you feel the same? Live life;and focus on God. True?
