1. Christianity's belief systems and how they interpret the bible.

2. Scientific belief systems and how they interpret their data.

Not asking for you to provide proof, just interested in your opinion - perception, after all, is everything. Thanks.

Why dont believers pray for world peace and the end of human suffering? I only see rants about the power of prayer when it comes to positive experiences the believers had.
Are those in 3rd world countries or hostile environments not entitled to miracles?

Often, religious contentions are historical contentions in tandem....For example, many hindus and Buddhists disagree about the role of atheism in Buddhism. Some say that Buddha did not confirm the existence of a deity and thus Buddhism is an atheist religion...Others will say that Buddha never denied the existence of a God either and this it is wrong for us to put words in his mouth...In this instance the key factor is what exactly did Buddha say.

Other examples include: Jesus in India; the Sunni/Shia divide; etc etc.

Do you ever feel that the historical context is often overlooked when religious debates are underway???

Can I have the passage to give to my friend? She says that I'm going against the bible because I eat meat (I'm not Christian so I don't care either way, I just want to prove her wrong xD), and the bible says 'Thou shalt not kill'. But I know that somewhere in the bible it says that animals were placed here for food... can you people who know the bible well please give me the passage/s?

The 1st brother died and left a widow. The 2nd brother didn't want to marry the woman, so God killed him. The 3rd brother spilled his seed upon the ground before taking her, so God killed him. The 4th brother took her into his household, and God blessed him. I remember this story from a Sunday School lesson, but I can't remember where it is.

Give technical answers and expect some thumps up and down (I believe religion is a sensitive matter).

What makes your religion true (proofs of any kind)?

From how many religions have you had a chance to choose from(only the ones you knew about equally at the time(s) count)?
If just one, will you ever check other ones out?

Do you follow your religion strictly, just the idea or do you do it for others(to belong to a group or make others act nicer towards you)?

From YA help:
Are questions deleted after they are resolved?

Resolved questions are never deleted. Once a question becomes a Resolved Question, it stays in Yahoo! Answers, available for searching and browsing. You can continue to share what you know by evaluating the Best Answer.

So why are they deleting resolved questions?

1. Strong theist.100% probability of God. In the words of C. G. Jung, "I do not believe, I know."

2. Very high probability but short of 100%. De facto theist. "I cannot know for certain, but I strongly believe in God and live my life on the assumption that he is there."

3. Higher than 50% but not very high. Technically agnostic but leaning towards theism. "I am very uncertain, but I am inclined to believe in God."

4. Exactly 50%. Completely impartial agnostic. "God's existence and non existence are exactly equiprobable."

5. Lower that 50% but not very low. Technically agnostic but leaning towards atheism. "I don't know whether God exists but I'm inclined to be sceptical."

6. Very low probability, but short of zero. De facto atheist. "I cannot know for certain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there."

7. Strong atheist. "I know there is no God, with the same conviction Jung "knows" there is one."

I'm a # 6...

I am a Hindu and I take pride in my religion. Although I never really looked into it with depth I follow what my parents have taught me. I am beginning to have doubts about my religion.... everyone has their own idea of what Hinduism really is, especially on Yahoo! Answers... that is what i see. Some people think of Hindus as people who basically worship everything they see. Some people think of Hindus as people who just do yoga. Some people think that Hindus worship 330 million gods while other disagree and say that they only worship one. Some people (with mental issues) think that Hindus gods are perverts...

I'm sorry but I'd have to say that with this confusion, 50 years or so from now... the beliefs of Hinduism will not be as popular or as successful as they are failing to be right now.

I believe that if you want to believe in a religion, you have to be clear in what you believe in.

Don't you agree?

All opinions are welcome.

Was it just me, or was Merlin's hut in Shrek 3 covered in Druid symbols? I saw at least one Triskele on the wall. This raises another question...

If you all remember the religious hype the zealots threw up about the Golden Compass movie. Disney is using Pagan symbols in their movies, why aren't they protesting that? Children might get curious about those symbols and go researching them, and who knows... They might even decide to become Druids. Then again, nothing wrong with that, is there?

Please, I would like your answers to be very very elaborate with authentic examples of the causes of the declinations of catholic faith in europe and america. If possible mention the names of those(either popes, priests, etc.) who are directly involved in the bad acts that are now causing the declination of faith in these two continents. And I would also like that you suggest some ways out of the situation because with the look of things,if care is not properly taken and taken rapidly, the issue of catholic faith in europe and america will soon be a story of the past.

So I'm having problems with one of my good friends. She's a really fun girl; she's really fun to be with and all. But, lately she's been extremely demanding of me, and basically she doesn’t treat me the way I want to be treated nor the way she would want to treated herself. So, this drives alot of anger within me, mostly like right after we hang out for some time. We even work together at the same job so I get angry as well. I really don’t' know what to do about this situation, but something has to be done because it's driving me coocoo. Anyways, I decided I'd look into the Chapter of Matthew for answers and I fell upon a passage that was titled, "Anger". So thinking this passage could really help me out, I honestly read it and still am not sure what it means. It's just confusing to me for some reason. So I guess I was wondering if someone would be able to explain the chapter of Matthew 5:21 and the entire passage of "Anger". It would be awesome if someone can help me out with this one
