That's the theory. It's when the Mayan Calendar ends, but it may just be the start of a new cycle or something. Sort of like the whole Y2K thing, but on a much larger scale.

no, no and HELL no.
the mayan calendar is only view of certian time period.
before the Earth will be destroyed the oceans have to dry up, the earth will eventualy become a sea of glass but it will still be inhabited. and of course the mellenium reign of christ must happen and even after that the devil must be released from his prison and deceive the people for a generation.
these three things havent happened. so before a new heaven and a new earth can replace this one, God will use up every grain of sand and every piece of rock.
so the world will not end in 300 years, nor will it end in the next thousand years. another prophecy that has to be fulfilled is that every single human being that has ever lived will be resurrected. that hasnt happened yet either.
but there is the desctruction of babylon, whether it is one city or everything connected to babylon that is offensive will be destroyed.
the city will be destroyed in one hour but how much of society and culture will exist after this is debateable and how long before the city is destroyed and between that time and when Jesus returns is another question.

As long as the universe sustains the earths trac with the sun to support life, the only end will be all the hype based on a
calendar compiled by documented positions of celestrail
bodies in a cycle.
2012 is just a completion of a 6400 year cycle and will start all over again.

NO. No man will know the hour or the day of Christ's return, and of the beginning of Revelation, and of the rise of the Beast until these events happen. This 2012 talk is a myth and has to do with an ancient Mayan calender. It is not based on true prophecy, which is the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
I've printed the following before but this is my opinion of current and future events.
There are many signs which indicate that the battle of 16:16 is approaching. (Revelations: And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.) The Bible has nearly been preached to every nation, and tongue, and people. This was one task that had to be accomplished before the end could come.
Matthew 24:12-14: Pay special attention to 24:14
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
There are wars and rumors of wars. Of course, this has always been the case. But they have not always been in Muslim nations and the Muslims have not always actively murdered innocent men, women and children.
Last Spring and early summer we had a record Fire, Flood and Tornado season in the United States. The entire nation of Greece even burned.
Russia and China have been conducting joint military exercises on Russian soil. Vladimir Putin has threatened global war if Bush puts his European missile defense plan in place. Putin has also spent the last eight years building his military to near Soviet levals. Last spring he overflew Britian with eight heavy nuclear bombers in an exercise, and did the same 100 miles off the coast of Alaska.
Some people have guessed Putin to be the Anti-Christ, but it is all speculation. However, the Anti-Christ must be seen as a good person and liked throughout the world. Putin currently has 80% approval ratings in his own country, and good relations with the rest of the world. (except the Bush administration) Vladir Putin has been named Time Magazine’s Man of the Year. They call him the new Russian Tsar.
China was in the news every day last summer for another toy recall. The head of Mattell apologized to this Communist Regime for causing them so much trouble by making them recall the poisoinous toys. These news stories were only about tainted products, but the fact is we constantly heard about China.
Strange and unusual things have happened in the recent past, such as the world renowned aviator Steve Fossit who went missing in a 100 square mile area and has never been found. Or how about the two month Anna Nicole Smith funeral and saga. No one cared about her when she was alive, then suddenly in death she was Marilyn Monroe. There were many other bizarre celebrety stories.
I could go on for ten pages but then people would just say "these things have always been with us". And to some extent they are correct, but not in the volume of the past several years. Who could forget the Tsunami of 2004 that killed 200,000, or Katrina?
Only God knows if this is the beginning of the end, but if you look at the news and the prophecies of Revelation, you could easily conclude that it is the beginning of the end.

It may very well end on that day, or it may not. But I'm certain we won't need the book of Revelations telling us what's going to happen. It'll probably be some maniac with nukes, global climate change, or perhaps the increasing unpopularity of being a good person.

According to the Mayan calendar, that is a possibility because there is nothing after that date on their calendar. Nobody knows with 100% certainty. So just in case, get all your affairs taken care of before then. It's not like we weren't warned....

That will be my 66th birthday.
The Bible says, in Matthew 24:36 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." (NIV)
So if anyone says the world will end or Jesus will come back on such and such a day, get as far away from that fool as you can.

No. The ancient Americans believed the sun was fueled by the blood of human sacrifices. You think their prediction has any merit? If you do you might as well buy into their other primitive beliefs and practices.

It has to end sometime time so why not! (but I wouldn't bet any money on it. If it doesn't end, you lose. If it does end, you will have a heck of a time collecting.
