I take it you think because there is no scientific evidence or proof, that it cannot be real?

You see, Christians and those who don't believe in any God are speaking two different languages here. Atheists demand proof, but Christianity is based upon faith which is the opposite end of the scale.

I believe in God because of my faith. I'd try to explain, but I have this feeling that no matter what I say, it will not convince you.

We believe in God because our faith has been proven time and time again. If you demand proof, you have no evidence of faith and therefore, it's simply not possible to believe in God, if you demand proof. Faith takes being willing to sacrifice what you think is best and being willing to humble yourself and say, okay, I'm gonna trust in you without proof and to believe. Once you cross over so to speak, then faith starts to be verified. The more I pray, the more I'm convinced that God is there, because logically, what gets answered and resolved cannot happen otherwise ---the odds are too unlikely to happen any other way than through God.

Faith is a principle component of existence and without it, nothing would ever get done.

For example, if I waited to turn on the light switch until I had a perfect knowledge that all its components were in perfect working order, I'd stay in the dark.

When you read a book about physics, you have a certain amount of faith that the author is not lying.

I've come to recognize that my feelings are at least as important as my knowledge.

We all do this.
Atheists do this. Christians do this. Everyone.

Ex: air, oxygen, gravity, that the driver next to you is paying attention, historical events, microorganisms (okay, only some see these), me on my computer (you have never seen me, yet you believe I exist).

Maybe God has designed us this way. I think humans, by the way, are the only living beings that have "faith".

Because it's a reasonable thing to do.

After all, you probably believe in a lot of things you can't see. You believe in viruses but you can't see them. You believe in scientific theories but cannot see them. You believe in love or hate or something, but cannot see that either.

There are many things which we believe in but cannot see.

Say what you really mean, why do we believe in God? there I asked it for you. Do you believe in air? it keeps you alive, but you don't see it, their is so much we don't see that we believe in and take for granite and so do you, just think about it. The answer to your question is FAITH>

Humans have the capacity to think conceptually. A blind person can believe in many things and yet see nothing.

well you don't need to see it to believe anything. if you were stuck out in the middle of the desert, and knew of cars and couldn't see them. you would still believe they still exist even though they aren't there. i know that's not a real good analogy, but it's the best i could come up with.

We are given more than one sense to experience reality. You can't see fragrances, yet you know they are there because you can smell them. You can't see music, yet you know it exists because you can hear it....I think you see what I'm saying. You are also given a spiritual sense to know that Spirit exists. But it needs to be awakened in you by God. When you receive His Gift that was given through His Son, that sense opens the Spiritual realm to you and your experience is expanded greatly.

Are you speaking of God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son and The Holy Spirit?

Because when Jesus ascended to Heaven He told His Disciples that He would send a comforter and He did,
His Holy Spirit that lives within you.

Although I'm an atheist, I do believe that everyone has the right to believe in whatever they want. Who am I to judge?
