"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."

i only know of one religion who "not do any work" on saturday and "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy" (judiasm) but other religions follow the old testtement so what happened to this comandment?

After you confess your sins to your priestt do you feel liberated from sin?

Did not Christ do away with our sins at the cross? Did he not do enough that you have to go get forgiven by a mere human?

please don't take this as an insult, rather an exortation to come to God and rejoice in the knoweledge that our sins have been forgiven. God bless you !1

this is an opinated question, but remeber no bashing other religions. only choose well known relgions such as christianity, budism, hinduism, muslim religon(damn i forgot the name lol), or judiasm, and maybe a couple others, no scientology.

i think christianity is, since all i heard u need to do is belive in god, other religions such as judiasm and some of the muslim religions require praying multiple times a day and wearing certain types of clohing, plus all the good things christianity requires, like beliving in god, and being a good person.

Like you know when you see the light at the end of the tunnel? Well then when you finally reach it, you forget all your memories, and everything you've learned. Then you turn into a baby. Then look, you're reborn in a hospital, or wherever!

Idk, just a thought that crossed my mind.

I would like answers from people who have travelled and had the opportunity to work with AmeriCorps.

When you are on your "assignment" (lack of better term)

1.Do you get personal time to explore the area you are staying? Ex. evenings, weekends
2. Are you there staying with other people, what are the general living conditions like?
3. Is it advised to bring your own money or is their "living expense allowance" good enough?
4. Are you competing with a lot of people once you apply, or are you generally accepted if you apply?

I know this is all stuff that could be answered by a representative, but I always like to get a 1st hand opinion on it, from someone who's experienced it!

Thanks!

Sin is what caused nakedness to become a problem. Sin introduced lust, immorality, and perversion into the human race. As a result, we can no longer look at a nude person of the opposite sex in a pure manner. God made clothing for Adam and Eve to resolve this problem.

If this is true, what about the many tribes in Africa, that are freely naked, and view one another in a pure manner?

If this is true, why do psychologists state the the shame of nudity is environmentally and society-learned and humans that were tested at a young age to adult hood within cultures where nudity was ok, stated that there were no second thinking about nudity

Doesnt this contradict the whole theory of nudity in the bible?

But Jesus Himself said that we are not to add or take away from the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation is complete. Why would He send another prophet, He Himself was the ultimate sacrifice. You cannot top it. Before Jesus died on the cross, He said it is complete, my work is done. There is absolutely no reason to send another message or prophet. You need to read the Bible. Maybe then we can talk about fulfilled prophecies.

In other words: non-Christians feel bombarded with hypocritical Christians who accuse them, judge them, and condemn them for all of their “sins”.

All with the horrific and ominous threat of “hell” that inevitably awaits such “sinners”.

Does this sound like “good news” to you???

-
And if a Christian’s chief responsibility to the rest of the world is to proclaim the Gospel of the GRACE of the Lord Jesus Christ, then why is it overwhelmingly true that the non-Christian’s perspective of the basic message of Christianity the exact opposite? That is, seen as "bad news" rather than the good news that it is?

Are practicing, faithful Jews (those that follow Judaism) equal in God's eyes as the practicing, faithful Christians?

2007-12-26 08:21:18 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous in Religion & Spirituality

Buddhism believes in soul-migration (or sometimes mistakenly called reincarnation). If we look at all beings;
- There are 6.500.000.000 people on this earth,
- Tens of billions are large and medium sized animals,
- Hundreds of Trillions small animals, like worms and flies.
The ratio "human : animal" is uttely small.
It'd take millions of years for a animal to reincarnate into a human.
1) Isn't the suffering of an animal disproportionally great (in terms of time)?
2) If the true nature of the universe is emptiness, why is there even life at all? Did life came from nothing with as goal to achieve nothing?
3) Why does a "fair" theory like reincarnation sounds so "unfair" to me? Look at a duck with the idea that the poor animal must reincarnate the coming million years full of suffering...

I hope that someone who knows about Buddhism can give me his/her opinion on this.

Personally, I think religion and science can get along just fine... at least they do in my small brain.

I'm appalled at what I've seen from believers in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, to Intelligent Design.

Science is a different approach to finding truth than faith.... different, but why are both sides often seemingly trying to prove the other side wrong?

To me it seems to go against the edicts of both religion in general, and the scientific method.

You can't really prove religion is true or false, so why try? They aren't built on the same basis. God gave us reason - therefore we should use it. However, can't people that decide to ONLY use science as a means of their personal beliefs be open enough to allow for others to believe as they wish without thinking they are ignorant? Science should always be open to anything - so should religion in my mind. Let's stop closing doors.

Sorry - lots of questions here - Personally, when I get to heaven, I'm going to ask about the dinosaurs.
