if you can see it, you can photograph it. Set up some equipment and see if it happens again. I am not one to believe in ghosts, but if you can get this chap on film, then we've got a whole load of questions to ask you!
Wait for the next appearance and then look at his uniform, look for any badges or medals he may have. What regiment was he? if he's wearing a uniform then what style is it. What war did he die in. WW2, Korea, Malaysia conflict? Where did he die? UK, France? Burma? Once you have checked out the ghost, then ask the questions about regiment etc. If you can identify the regiment from the ghost, rather than applying a regiment to the ghost you know that the information you are working with is coming from the ghost and not from any stories or photos you may have heard as a kid. Try to discover something from the ghost you can't possible have known before the appearance....
Have you had other events like this?
You can't have known your great uncle so why suddenly is he there in your bed? What did he look like in real life, did he wake up before disapearing? Too many questions to get down here. To Vague a description from you for a proper response.

I don't know how old you are and whether you would remember this, but about 1980 there used to be a programme on television called Sapphire and Steel, the actors were Joanna Lumley and David Mc'Callum. There was an episode where the ghost of a soldier from the First World war kept on appearing from the past. It really gave me the creeps and still remember it, so if this happened to me in real life i think I would be absolutely petrified. I don't know what I would do.

Its true what spot says: the dead cannot harm you, although I wouldn't like to take the chance....LOL!
Some people I know say that they have saw someone who has passed on and it is usually a member of there own family.
I do believe there is an after life of some sort but just like everybody else I haven't a clue what it is.
Personally I've never experienced this myself and really don't know what i would do if I did see someone who had died. Probably screeeeeem like a BIG girl. LOL!
They say when you die (if it is to be believed) you are reincarnated and come back as something else NOT somebody else. If that's the case I want to come back as a frog so I can get a jump everyday..LOL!

Personally, I think that's fascinating. I work for a local historical society, and I get this kind of question all the time. I'd look into the man, myself---Learn about his life. It's likely you'll find some interesting things, and discover some good family history.
I see no reason to be alarmed. In my experience, ghosts don't hurt people. Usually, they just want to be noticed.

Fortunately, dear, I would just feel annoyed. Spirits don't have the best timing, do they? That sort of gift comes down through the bloodline and you need to talk to your mother or father. I am guessing that since your mother didn't pack you off to the doctor, she has had the same experience. Next time this happens (don't be surprised if it is daylight - and no, other people won't be able to see him - except anyone else in your family with the gift), wait and see what he wants. Spirits return to look after the living, to send messages, or to right something that they did wrong, in my experience. Don't be afraid, they can't harm you. You can, however, help them, and they know it.

This is something that would not surprise me, i often wake up and see young girl about 10 years old standing at the end of the bed, she won't tell me why, but I'm sure I will find out at sometime. Spirits in my house is nothing uncommon light go on when my mother comes to visit, she passed away 5 years ago. I was asked to go to a house because they were having problems, well I have never seen anything like it i stood there and watched the spirit presence it was fantastic.
Next time you see him, talk to him.
Love & Peace

People like Dawkins and Hitchins would say that there's a scientific and rational explanation for it since there cannot be any spirits, ghosts or deity, or life after death. Such a scientific explanation might proceed along the following lines: you were half-asleep and your mind was playing tricks on you, and what you thought you 'saw' was just a dream-like hallucination. You thought you saw a soldier (how did you know he was dead?), and afterwards when you saw a picture of your uncle, you wanted to believe that it was the same 'man'. They would point to many cases of people 'seeing' things but the images were actually in their minds. Such images, they would argue, can now be created in laboratory conditions when certain areas of the brain are stimulated by electrical impulses. Whether such reductionistic explanations will satisfy you, I leave you to judge. But starting from a naturalistic position, there can be no room for ghosts or spirits. Therefore, any claims that one has been spotted must be false.

I would not be scared, a ghost can't harm you, I've seen my dad. When I divorced my husband and was looking after 3 sons on my own my dad was at the bottom of my bed. He said I was going to be okay and I was doing fine without him, and that he was always looking after me, which I believe he is.

Two of my great grand-uncles were killed in Fance during WW1. I'd love to go visit their graves some day because I don't think that any of our family have ever been. . maybe they would come and and extend the invitation personally by visiting my beside..
