I know I'm a day late, but to all you Christians out there who want to put christ back in christmas, here's an article you may want to read.... and it's from a CHRISTIAN website! (Yes, we atheists read the bible....which is probably why we think it's bs)
http://www.realtruth.org/articles/461-actc.html

My question is, Why put christ into a holiday that was never his to begin with?

To DAN S:
That article doesn't "prove" anything. It's just more rhetorical crap that we've all heard a million times. Oh, god created clocks huh? All the while I thought it was the Mayans...

You would be surprised at all the "christian" holidays that began with Pagan roots. Christmas was never & is not associated with the birth of Christ at all...it was only labeled to that date to detour from the Pagan sabbat of Yule. Check out the christian holiday of Easter....it was originally Ostara from the Pagan roots of fertility, etc. There are many websites pertaining to the Pagan sabbats that have since been transformed to christian holidays all in the name of what the christians call "satanism" (by the way....pagans do not believe in).

I do hear ya loud & clear!!!

Well, the Christ Mass is certainly all about Christ. However - all of the traditions absorbed into the Christ Mass were never Christian. Things like caroling, decorating trees, decorating with holly and wreaths, feasting with family and friends, and giving and receiving gifts were absorbed into Christmas from pagan solstice celebrations (including Yule, Saturnalia etc...).

So technically - no one is taking Christ out of Christmas (you have to believe in Christ to do that to begin with), it's just that a bunch of people are celebrating a secular "Christmas" with pagan traditions (basically they're really celebrating solstice because Jesus isn't involved at all) and the Christians are upset because they're realizing how many people are celebrating a holiday they call "Christmas" who aren't Christian and it's upsetting them. They'll get over it.

I'm a Christian and when I look around I have to admit I don't see Jesus anywhere but church. Every year I try to focus on Christ, but the truth is it's really hard to mix Jesus with Christmas. It seems wrong somehow that He would even be associated with this materialistic holiday. The God I know isn't going to share space with Santa Claus and I won't ask Him to. I love the holiday season and all it's festivities. I's my favorite time of the year. Maybe we should ask ourselves "How can we put Jesus back into our everyday lives?

If you're referring to the Messiah, He was never in that pagan garbage to begin with. If you feel safe stuffing your idea of Him into that sewer, then good luck with that. I realize YOU don't believe that but you have a better grip on things than most christians.

The church had better wake up and smell the brimstone before it's too late.

Christmas is crap! Leviticus 23 shows us how to celebrate.

Amazing that a non-believer can better insight than most christians!

PS The bible isn't bs. People's interpretations are mostly BS. That was a very good question to pose to the church.

Christmas is simply a time to honor Christ, just like Mothers Day or Fathers Day is a time to honor them. The exact date has never been important.

Well if you enjoy that website, perhaps you would like another article from them?

While they celebrate the pagan festivals of Christmas why do they ignore the true birthday of their Savior?

Truth is it is all propaganda and they do not care about the true dates etc. All they care about is trying to dictate and dominate non believers.

Thank goodness the atheists and other religions welcome each other at Christmas. Left to the Christians the season would be very exclusive to them and very unhappy for the world!!!

What does that say about their interpretation of Christianity?!!!!!

For real, though!

I am a Christian, but I realize how ridiculous it is that people cling so tightly to what they think is the fact that Jesus was born on Dec 25. If we really want to thank someone for Christmas, let's thank the Pagans!

Why use the suffix "mas" either, unless you want to recognize the Catholic (as in "Mass", the Eucharist celebration) origin of the (revised) holiday.
