Is a marriage considered a sacrament and holy in the eyes of God if you were married at City Hall (by the state) and did not follow it up with a church wedding.
My parents were married 45 yrs (city hall, no church ceremony) and their union is "right with God". How do I know? Because, in retrospect, and even today I witness the struggle they endured to be exemplary parents through years of crisis and my mothers infallible love of Jesus. They haven't been to church in decades but the way they live their faith is so humble and so real, there is no screaming halleluya or jumping up and down and having your body literally shaking with the "spirit", all there is is a quiet spiritual knowledge that transcends anything tangible.
My marriage is regrettably nothing like theirs and I didn't have a church ceremony either. I believe the "sacrament" of marriage is in how you grow 2gether in love during those moments of joy and the character that's built while fighting the inevitable challenges..

christians assert that there is a god and he created the laws of physics.
atheists assert that there isn't any proof of a god, therefore one does not exist.
most atheists believe that the universe was created during the big bang.
christians ask, if there is no god, what caused the big bang?
my question is, if christians believe there are no laws of physics without god, why do they expect an answer that will agree with the laws of physics and thus the existence of a god from atheists? couldn't atheists just as easily use the argument that since there are no laws of physics without god, anything is possible? of course, even christians would consider that a silly idea, otherwise, they wouldn't ask what caused the big bang. therefore, isn't it more logical to assume that laws of physics were not created by some "intelligent agent" than to assume that they were?

I'm an old-fashioned woman once it comes to love. Not as naive as i used to be - i got my heart broken over puppy love in high school and i've learned to become realistic. When i got to college, i met this person who ended up being one of my close friends - probably the closest i've been to anyone for a long time. I never thought i would fall for him nor would he fall for me. We had a good relationship - nothing i've ever experienced. I was so comfortable with him - we could talk openly and trust each other about anything and everything (rare nowadays) and we could also laugh and understand each other. For a friendship, we were very affectionate - taking care of each other if one was heartbroken or not in a good place. Looking back, i'm surprised we kept inside the boundries as friends. He was always respectful and a gentleman to me - this was truly a special relationship no one can understand except for the two of us. Close for about three yrs...

Early this yr, we fell for each other year very deeply (hes always had feelings and i never caught on). We were "together" for a little (cuddles, give him first kiss) - i KNEW it would be potentially a good relationship. It was always my ideal relationship to end up w. a best friend. I could see myself being with him in the future for a long time but not at the moment. I had that "gut feeling" that kept telling me, "yes, be with him but wait. not now in your life." Very strong feeling and i agreed. I'm at the pt in my life where i want to start a foundation and finish my studies first. He understood completely and it was hard for both of us. For the next couple months after that, we tried being friends but i think it was harder for him than me. I told him back then that i would get over the situation of us not being together someday but i would never get over him. It's almost been a year and who knew i spoke the truth back then. I've met and hung out w. other guys but NOTHING compares to him. I respect him as a person and it's hard to shake him off. After the past few months, i've learned to not force feelings - to not force getting over him and not getting over him. It is what it is and let your feelings be. It's been months and i STILL feel the same way. I know for a fact the only way i'll get over him is if God allows me to meet my future husband. Other than that, i don't think i'll ever get over him.

Darwin observed that the finches of the Galapagos were similar to finches everywhere, except that some had bills that allowed them to more easily exploit alternate food sources. What is the biblical explanation for this? Was Noah given a big list from God telling him exatctly where on Earth to drop off a pair of each animal?

do you actually research it and weigh the options or just assume that you know what it's all about? The general consensus here seems to be "if we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?" which shows a complete lack of knowledge about evolution. Do you actually know the fine points of the evolution theory or do you just assume you know?
Also, do you know the difference between a hypothesis and a theory? Everyone seems so hellbent on discrediting evolution by calling it a theory when if you knew the definition of a theory you would know it does little to discredit it.

i don't get how even a creationist can ask a question this dumb.

the apes who evolved into humans got old and died.

they aren't around any more because animals get old and die.

why do creationists think that animals live forever? does it say that in their bible somewhere?

Me and my girlfriend are both roman catholic but i do not agree with evey thing in the church. Main reason being is that i lost my faith in the chuch when i saw not not very nice things happen to the preist. I left the catholic church becasue of this. but not that i have found the girl of my dreams i have decided to go back to the chuch for the sake of all of us. We go every sunday now. But i still am not confirmed because the stuff happend right before i was to be confirmed in a year to 6 months. Every thing is pretty good in my relationship exectp when ever we start talking about church or religion she gets "scared" because i dont belive every thing that the chuch has to say. One being Confession to a preist, i beleave that if you are really truly sorry god can for give you if you pray and do good things to make it up. I dont think that you have to go to the preist. The other thing is abbortion when the mother will die before the baby is born because of the baby.

Like many, when I first became a internet user and got email many years ago, I thought a lot of the stuff I received as 'forwards' was authentic.

Found out quickly most are not....and so much of the information that people tend to believe is just plain fraudulent, erroneous and often can instill unnecessary fear in people [medical info e.g]

SO I use www.snopes.com to verify these BEFORE I send them on - seems like the responsible thing to do IMO :-)

I once saw in a movie called Notes on a Scandal, (that took place in England,) that a woman gave an ex-girlfriends fiancee a wreath. And the man who was accusing the woman of doing this seemed very angry and horrified. Why?
Here in America it's just something you hang on your front door at Christmas.
Please help I'm confused.

How about the word "*********"? Is it a racial slur? It means cheap or stingy and though it sounds and looks like another word that most certainly is a racial slur, "*********" is a different word altogether. Do I need to stop using it because other people don't know what it means?
