Darwin observed that the finches of the Galapagos were similar to finches everywhere, except that some had bills that allowed them to more easily exploit alternate food sources. What is the biblical explanation for this? Was Noah given a big list from God telling him exatctly where on Earth to drop off a pair of each animal?

The Bible does not have answers for questions about science and technology, any more than a Microsoft technical manual has answers to questions about theology and morality. I know that some religious people say the Bible has answers for everything, but it doesn't.
We human beings are made in the image of God. Genesis speaks of God giving humanity "dominion" over the earth. Many people think dominion that means domination and exploitation. They are wrong, and are usually motivated by greed. Dominion really means stewardship -- a charge to taking care of our planet. And if we're going to be in charge, we'd better understand how the garden works. That includes understanding that Galapagos finches evolved by natural selection, and can go extinct if we are not careful.

God said "type" of animal to Noah - not one of each animal. As has been said, a finch is a finch. Same with other animals e.g. a dog is a dog no matter whether it is german shepherd, great dane or any other of its wild cousins like jackals, hyenas, foxes etc... still a dog.
Besides, why wouldn't a finch in one place be similar to other finches with slight differences?

D. variation. Darwin considered that even if everything had been created by a creator, he couldn't figure out why the creator had taken the trouble of creating a slightly different finch-species on each island, instead of just one spiecies for all of them.

Christians-at least educated ones-know that natural selection happens. How else do we explain that so many different looking people have the same genes as Adam and Eve? I am sure that the idea of all humans being descendants of Adam and Eve is going to make some of you mad but do me a favor google Dr. Dino and see what he says.

But it is still a finch! It adapted to its environment, it did not become a completely different creature. The finches prove adaptation, not evolution.
