Do you assign your own meaning to what is not clear?

Do you let your pastor tell you what it means, and believe him without a doubt? He's the authority?

Do you tell people who don't believe exactly as you do that they are going to hell?

No wonder atheists get bonus points sometimes--how could they not deserve a few when sitting back and observing the cage match?

I am curious how familiar Catholics are with Queen Semiramis, wife of Nimrod (who attempted to build the Tower of Babel).

"Now, we have a woman in history who's forming a religion that is the opposite, the counterpart, the shadow of the true religion of God.

Now, what do we know about Nimrod's wife's religion? Well, she shrewdly conceived this religion based on the promises of Genesis 3:15. And here's what she did. She claimed that she gave birth to a son whom she said was miraculously conceived. In other words he was not the son of Nimrod. She had an "immaculate" conception. She had a virgin birth.

She also claimed that she was a part of the religious system; and so all the symbols of her religion, all the icons of her religion showed a mother and a child, the Madonna and child.

So, there was a woman--her--who was the center of her religion and the child she gives birth to (she claims) as a virgin.

Jesus was crucified by the Romans who hated him and now the catholic faith is based in Vatican City in the heart of Rome.

What happened to make the Romans Christians?

HELP! I was raised a catholic, and I used to have alot of faith in God, but now all I have left is fear! Last year the same thing happened and I got really into Wicca. Wicca doesn't really feel right either. I feel like I need a supreme being to carry on. Someone please help. Which religion should I follow? I am basically agnostic, searching for the truth.

With basically every single major religion in the entire world saying they are the true path to faith and religion, wouldn't you understand how we can get a bit overwhelmed by this?

With most of the religions saying they are the right path, how can we truly know what the right path is? All the religions seems as credible as each other so what is the difference between them all?

You can't exactly be every single religion without totally annoying three quarters of the religions on earth and so wouldn't being Atheist or no religion or just admitting to yourself that "I really don't know what to believe" be the wisest option?

And then if you do chose a religion like Christianity, they all say they are "true" Christians and all other forms of Christianity aren't - and so that means that either all Christian faiths are true Christians or none are true Christians at all - and you can't exactly be a "true" Christian without accepting one denomination as the "true" religion, can you?

If you're a Christian, what your Atheist friends REALLY think of you?
If you're Atheist, what your Christian friends REALLY think of you?
If you're Atheist, and my contact or friend, I want you to know that I think about you with the same love and affection as I do my friends and contacts that share my beliefs. Your opinions?

I have a friend from school days whom my parents think 'unusual'. We lost contacts for years but now we are working in the same city and become close again. We have many things in common and she is fun to be with, so I don't mind her man-like appearance (which, among other things, still worries my parents).

I notice that she calls me everyday to talk about small things and wants me to do the same -- which I can't always do. When I don't, she is very upset and says very rude words. She is also mad if I can only see her for limited time since I have other things to do. But after that we get along well again.

Once I told her about the guy who had a crush on me, and she was in bad mood for days (was it because of it or not, I didn't know. She refused to tell me what happened). I was surprised with her silent reaction because other girls usually find it worth talking about for a while.

Is there really something unusual about her, or am I just influenced by my parents' opinion?

We run a plumbing business out of our home & sometimes my children (ages 15 & 12) answer, as trained, obviously.

I get comments on how great my children's phone manners are. Should I be so surprised to hear this from them?
I EXPECT certain levels of manners. Which I realize is a GOOD thing, but... What a shame that it is not that way 'across the board'.

So, another question is this:
What manners really impress you in the younger generation ?
And please specify what ages you expect this behavior.
Thank you in advance.

My husband and I have just moved to a new city and a lovely lady who we have recently met at the church invited us to a big Christmas party at her home. We are excited to go and meet other people from the church.

For the event, based on last name, every family brings a covered dish... either a dessert, finger foods, salads, etc. You are "assigned" what to bring.

I am accustomed to taking a hostess gift to a party, however since we are bringing a covered dish, is bringing a hostess gift overkill? What does etiquette dictate in this situation?

Why do people get offended if like 98% of the people think that being P.C. is dumb and people should just say the truth? What are we teaching our society and children? I mean, I am not in any way saing we should be rude but...
if a person is short then they are short
if someone is black or white then they are black or white.
if a person is Christian and celebrates Christmas then why do people of other religons get offended when the topic is brought up?
In my English class we just got an assignment where we have to make the childrens book "The Polar Express" politically correct and i am slightly irritated with it. Do you think that we should have to do this assignment or should i just get over it? I know it isn't a huge deal but still...it really bothers me.

Me and my neighbor were talking this afternoon and a couple came down the street walking and the two were holding hands but the woman's arm was in front of the man's while the man's arm was underneath her in the submissive position !! I was really "weirded out" by this and I pointed it out to my neighbor and she said nothing was wrong with it. (She doesn't believe in the Bible though) I want to know what others think!! I was ALWAYS taught the man's arm goes in front and he is supposed to be leading the woman, you know?
