I work in a small, open office space with about 20 people. One woman in particular wears a TON of perfume. You can smell her coming in from OUTSIDE and it lingers all over the office. I don't consider myself 'sensitive' to smells but its just really offensive and overpowering. How do we tell her to tone it down for the office without causing hurt feelings?

The way I see it.......religion can be restrictive and opressive?

It is man made, guilt laden rules, rituals and regulations on how to worship God. It can be very legalistic in nature. That doesn't make religion bad - it just makes it restrictive and oppressive.

On the other hand..............

Christianity (in its truest form) is basically accepting Jesus as your savior, confessing your sin, following and living life according to His teachings and commandments of love God with your whole being and love others as yourself.

Being a Christian is not about being religious. When you are a Christian you are free to worship God in your own way. You are free from man made guilt, rules, regulations, rituals and legalism. You have freedom in Christ with no weights (religion) to burden you down and get in the way.

Now, I want to make it very clear that I believe there are many "religious" people who are also Christians.

According to archeological evidence, monotheism existed before polytheism. The first religions were monotheistic.

Writing dates back to around 3,500 B.C. Abraham was said to have lived between 2,000 and 1,800 B.C. depending on your sources.

There is plenty of evidence during that 1,500 year gap that shows there were people worshipping only one God in that area.

The Bible has been shown to be the most accurate book when it comes to the historical events.

There were multiple witnesses to the miracles of Jesus as is recorded in the Bible. No other religion claims multiple witnesses and can be backed up by MULTIPLE writings. There isn't just ONE account of Jesus in the New Testament. There are MULTIPLE books by multiple authors.

Do you agree?

People frown on the fact that interviewers ask about salary during an interview, but let's face it, it's highly important for most people. Waiting until you're offered the job only to find out that it's $5,000 less than what you made at your old job is a complete waste of time. Therefore, when is the appropriate time to ask?

Look at the stuff that goes on. Does this desentize women in thinking that it is normal? Should they outlaw soaps?

Here is something that I do not understand. Christianity teaches Christians to spread the gospel and try to make believers out of unbelievers. That explains why Christians would try to convert Atheists to believe. But tell me - why do Atheists try to convert Christians over to not believing? Why are you offended by Christians' choice to believe in their God. What bothers you so much about it?

If we are made in a non-existent god's image, does this mean He is also bothered by piles and shortness of breath? We're classified as mammals who originally crawled out of the sea. As some religions would have it, homo sapiens will be sent to heaven, hell or someplace just off the map when they die. Why does this not apply to other mammals that were more fortunate than we, and have not yet evolved to our pitiful state? I mean, if I were to believe in an afterlife of angels and/or devils, then logic would dictate that angels and devils await all living things. Including my dog whom I pray goes to hell in a handbasket.

For example, when you believe that certain people are INCREDIBLE except they have been indoctrinated since birth...

One person I have grown very close to likes me very much as a person (VERY much) however she cannot get over her childhood conditioning, and will not even be my friend if I declare I am atheist. Catholic girls what can you do? XD

I am technically not atheist- however I feel that God is very improbable (and the Bible-God is impossible). I am simply not an atheist because I feel I should learn more about various religions, read their holy texts and engage in debates with their religious authorities, before making a final judgement. I am pretty young so thats not much of a problem...

How has religion and indoctrination affected you personally??

what to do you have to say to people who have washed themselves clean of their guilt for committing terrible crimes against humanity simply by accepting god into their hearts? i mean, if you didn't believe in god, how else would you rid yourself of you guilt? it's impossible, isn't it? i mean do you really expect people to take responsibility for their own actions and not do these things? it's impossible because we're all sinners. so what are we supposed to do? just live with guilt for the rest of our lives?
