the Bible has approval of prayers for the dead:
"In doing this he acted in a very excellent and noble way, inasmuch as he had the resurrection of the dead in view; for if he were not expecting the dead to rise again, it would have been useless and foolish to pray for them in death. But if he did this with a view to the splendid reward that awaits those who had gone to rest in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Thus he made atonement for the dead that they might be freed from this sin" (2 Macc. 12:43–45). Prayers are not needed by those in heaven or hell so what is it?
Christ refers to the sinner who "will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come" (Matt. 12:32), suggesting that one can be freed after death of the consequences of one’s sins. Similarly, Paul tells us that, when we are judged, each man’s work will be tried. And what happens if a righteous man’s work fails the test? "He will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire"

Do you believe you will be with family? Do you believe you will know other people in whatever heaven you believe in? Do you think it will be sitting around on a cloud and playing a harp, or is it more then that?

Lets say a women is married to a man, and the man dies. And lets say another man is married to a women, and the woman dies. After the deaths, the living woman and living man meet and get married. All four are devout Christians (I am using Christianity, but you can replace this with whatever you want) and lead the life that theoretically gets them into heaven.

Who are they married to when they go to heaven? Is it a foursome? Do they stick with their original marriage?

What are your thoughts? I am not looking for a "right" answer from a particular religion, but what you all personally think.

There is a family in my neighborhood that appear to be the "perfect" family. The husband is attractive, intelligent, a good provider and a good Daddy. The wife is 16 years younger than he and quite a pretty. She is President of the PTA and a good Mommy. They have 2 beautiful children, an 11yo boy and a 9yo girl. They just got a puppy; and have the perfect little house, on a perfect little street, in our perfect little neighborhood. Everything seems truly "perfect" but it's not. I know for a fact that the husband been having an affair, perhaps not his first, for over a year. The wife doesn't seem to have any idea. It just breaks my heart. I don't really know her. Do I keep this information to myself? Help, I need your advice, I'm at a loss!

Here in our corner of the USA there is a huge lot of animosity to having the manger/nativity in the downtown park at Christmas time. About six years ago the bigoted ones forced the city to forbid such a thing. This year a large Nativity was just set up, with the Mayor's and the city attorney's permission. Tonight's paper already has flak about this, and folks are demanding it be taken down. Now I ask you, do you think this is fair ????
