ok so im not trying to be mean. i mean i have friends who are it but why are people like that? why do they find it neccesary to look at all of the bad things in life and like death and cutting themselves? is it just like attention seeking or trying to be "cool"? or do they really think that way? so why do they act like this?

OK I'm emo... i don't like it i don't do it on purpose I didn't even know how emo i was until my best friend sat me down looked me into my eyes and said... dude, stop it with the emoness... i though she was joking...
I wear executive clothes everyday, I am as obsessed with shoes as Carrie from sex and the city, I go out, I'm social, I have a pretty good life on the surface and I know people that would kill to be where I am...
On the other hand...
I drink too much, I cut myself and I write tragic poems about feelings and loneliness...
gothic kids that buy stuff in hot topic wear black and listen to my chemical romance (OK i admit i like the band) but you know the type, greasy hair to the side on top on one eye skinny jeans etc... they just either like bad fashion or they need attention... true emo's don't show their true nature cause like me they don't even know they are...
why do I see everything so depressing? I don't know I'm a pessimist everything is withered and I can't no matter how hard I try to change this view... and pills take my libido away so noooooo

Gothic is simply a style, sort of an ethnic type of thing, while "emo" AKA "emotion" is a stage that someone might go through for a certain amount of time. Although now they seem to be styles, or jokes, they originated out of purpose.

do you think all people who dress the way you are describing are cutting themselves and like death?
girl, seems like you need to open up your mind and throw the stereotypes out the window
for example, one of my girlfriends' friend was so nice and she didn't dress like "goth" or "emo" .. and we later found out she was cutting herself.
why do people dress the way they dress? Because maybe it's what makes them unique and different. it is their choice and they like dressing that way. I mean why do you act the way you do? we all have a way of expressing ourselves and our own original styles :)

lol i got a goth sis the answer id its just way they are, they think being outcasts and delinquests is better than some preppy stuff and dont like stuff other people do....and also to piss off thier parent lol

People who are "emo" or "goth" are seeking attention.
People that you label goth or emo maybe are looking for a cry for help.
Or, their intrests include black clothing and "emo" bands.
Sometimes it's just the way people are.
