I am a devote Catholic. Some of my co-workers go to a Fundamentalist Church and are always trying to get me to attent their Church. One even made the comment that Catholics are not Christians. Anyone ever dealt with this particular denomination?

I *think* the poster was Catholic as she was saying she worships on Ash Wednesday. Okay, I understand that the term 'born again' has taken on a negative slant in the Catholic church --- or so it seems, as many Catholics seem to call evangelicals 'born agains', almost as an insult.

Now, I honestly don't mind if I'm called a 'born again' or a 'fundamentalist' or whatever as a label or even as an insult. But is it *common* amongst Catholics to believe that there is no such thing? If so, what is the explanation for this scripture?

John 3:3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Do I have what it takes? Or do I need to express myself more publicly? Or is that not something that jesus would want? Like jesus would really want me to keep it on the down low.

And..... Would jesus mind if I didn't tithe that 10% to the church, and kept that extra cash that I made on the streets to myself?

EXPLAIN THIS TO ME PLEASE.

there are limits, especially today to control overpopulation. someone wants just 1 kid, another one wants a family with 5 children. so if you have children, why is it still a sin to use birth control? is it just another excuse?

an egg lives one day in female uterus, after that it dies and is absorbed by female body. if killing an egg is a sin, then why God created women in that way, that after one day an egg dies? or is He a sexist, He created them like that, so He can have an excuse to blame women?

pills can be dangerous for women, but a vasectomy is perfectly safe. vasectomy is a form of birth control. birth control arent just pills. God forgot about that or He just wants more excuses why birth control is a sin?

and this isnt true that no matter how many kids you have, you will always have money. they might be paying for social support, but its proven, the more kids you have, the more expenses you have, which means that there are limits of how many kids you can have.

Remember i said "born again"!

Do you attend Church on Saturday or Sunday?

If on Sunday, why do you attend it on Sunday rather than Saturday? Is your congregation ever gonna change this day for the other, why or why not?

If you attend church on Sunday do you keep this day as the Holy day of the week or do you keep Saturday Holy and attend church on Sunday to assemble with other Christians? Please be informative.

If some of you answerers are a part of a denomination, which one is it and if you aren't do you attend a non-denominational or do you mostly assemble at each other's homes. I am very curious.

P.S. If you attend Church on Sunday, do you think or believe that you congregation will ever change this day before Christ returns? why or why not?

While in Greece, we came across a lot of people who believed in Heaven, but not Hell. In fact, there are a lot of people in Europe who have ideas like these, but the view in the US is relatively rare. I, for example, describe myself as a "hoper" in universalism, and have gotten a lot of criticism on the web, and have not even told anyone outside the net, because my fundamentalist church group would probably say that I'm "not really a Christian" or something like that.

But why is it that Americans seem to think that a belief, even hope, that the wicked will be punished with "hellfire" is necessary to be close to God? Could it be because what I call the "retaliatory mind" is still quite strong in America and is ingrained in the psychology of the American branch of religious fundamentalism?

I don't like crude comedians, and Richard Pryor topped that list, but I did watch the movies he did with Gene Wilder.

On the other hand, Robin Williams is second on that list, and I have steadfastly refused to watch any movie that he was in.

I see a lot of questions that imply all kinds of doctrines in religions other than the one asking. I see relgious groups like catholics, jehovah witnesses, mormons, and others portrayed as the spawn of Satan. Here is your opportunity to clear up half truths. I am an atheist, so I have no dog in this hunt. I just dislike misinformation, even when it refers to beliefs that I do not share.

I read a list of the type of people who go to Hell, it's in Revelation, but it didn't actually say crazy people per se.
So is there another list somewhere else in the Bible, that might include crazy people?
