First do you believe a person can confess their sins directly to God without a priest.

Second am I correct in understanding that you see the priest as a representative of God in the confessional? You basically see it as confessing directly to God. And the priest is not actually forgiving your sins but merely telling you that you have been forgiven.

Third what would happen if someone like me went to confession? I am a protestant but I was baptized in the Catholic church as a baby. Also before anyone asks I mean if someone went and was respectful and not there as a joke or a lark.

Okay, here's this thing..Parents would tell their kids not to ever take candy from strangers..and yet during Halloween, they send their kids to people's houses to beg for free candy, while their parents can give their kids candy any time of the year.. What is up with that???

Just a theory that I've kinda seen a trend on. Not to insult women, but basically permiscuous men (players) seem to have girls when they become parents. The reason? To show them what the mother's father went through when his girl grew up. I think it's God's little sense of humor. What do you think?

Because if they did find life, the Bible does not talk about God creating life on other planes. Do you think that it would disprove the Bible?

I just asked: "What does serving God imply?"

The most popular answers were those that referred to helping others.

Earlier, I asked what the purpose of life is. The most popular answer was serving God.

So: We're here to serve God, by helping those that are also here??

But.. when you think about it, if we weren't here, our purpose wouldn't need to be served; without people, there would be no one to help, and no reason to serve God.

Basically, from what all of YOU have told me, our existence CREATES our purpose to exist.

Does this make any more sense than the last post; any thoughts??

Am I the only one who thinks sometimes the differences between the two groups are not as great as we think? I am beginning to realize that sometimes the difference is what we think a word means. I have found myself a few times arguing with a Catholic only to realize we agree but are putting it in different words. That we see certain words a bit differently but when we get down to the basics and talk it out we mean the same thing. Am I the only one this seems to happen to?
