After living in Germany for 2 years, I get the feeling that most young Germans,(20-40), admire the US. The older volks might harbor a little resentment... but not much. The current US administration has hurt us badly in the eyes of the entire world.

Had a lot of German friends in my time.
They think Americans are naive and simultaneously egotistical.
At least some do.
But over there, in the world of cliches and stereotypes, Herr Von Winkel-steingrundten thinks we're all just fine. Just regular folks who don't eat enough schnitzel.
And he may be right. He just may be right...

Probably the same thing the 'rest' of the world thinks of Americans...that we are overzealous (in many endeavors), overweight, over-egotistical, and over-reaching into their country's affairs. Just as a little FYI, when you travel, it becomes entirely apparent that not everyone thinks America is that great. In fact, lots and lots of countries don't like us at all!

my grandma came from Germany after World War II and she isn't like mad at Americans or anything. She has an amazing story about her family. She was in a concentration camp for 2 years! But she is the best grandma ever!!

When I lived there they liked us alright. They did mention that we let the jews get away with too much.
Hey, the group I was around LOVED Hitler, thought he just had bad luck. I would assume baby boomers who rebuilt Germany would have a different take.
If I were Jewish I would live in Iran before I lived in Germany!

Im American but i figure they must think of us as fat,lazy,disgusting,and stupid. Want proof? Look at all the mcdonalds out there. Do you really need a car to get around in the city? Look at Dubya Bush hes as dumb as the smartest rock.
