I've always believed it to be in part due way the church teaches the stories of the bible. In many stories including those regarding Noah and Jesus (there are many other examples), the hero of the story is subjected to ridicule and doubt. Of course, the subject always stays true to their faith and is often reward for their faith. Noah is saved from the flood and Jesus ascends to heaven.

Christians are taught to expect to encounter those who will doubt them; even question them. They, of course, see themselves like the heroes of their stories facing down the doubters (ridiculers in their minds) with their blind faith.

The other part seems to come from the inflated sense of self-entitlement that religious worship instills in its followers. Worshipers believe, like in the Bible's stories, that they are entitled to special privileges because of their faith and beliefs. It is not unique to Christians. In the middle east, every religious groups believes god gave them the "holy land." The persecution complex does seem to run the most rampant in the Abrahamic religions.

Even though the majority of Americans claim to be Christians, this does not automatically mean that they live their lives worthy of Jesus Christ. There are many Christians who don't study the Bible regularly, or spread the gospel to others openly. A lot of people may think that this is strange, and not understand it completely because they were never taught the ways that a Christian is supposed to live. Therefore, many people who do walk with God are "ostracized" because of the lack of understanding from others. Your numbers that you gave up there do not mean that every single one of those Christians act the way a Christian should act. And it definitely doesn't mean that every single one of those Christians they will stand up for their religion when confronted about it by their friends, or other judgemental people in their lives. I've seen this first hand in my life, and I dont think that Christians "act" repressed, but honestly there are times in a Christian's life where they are looked at differently for their strong faith.

Why could you go with all of Chrisitianity for the misbehavior of one Christian? you're able to ask your self, how does paganism make human beings greater perfect than they could ideally be. It does not, in no way has, and in basic terms improves while Christianity arrives on the scene. This individual it is railing against you is mad, and is utilizing profanity and phone calling, yet it rather is fairly a lot all and sundry until eventually they arrive to Christ and "study" a greater perfect way. Ephesians tells us to no longer talk this way, and the entire of Scripture teaches us to be sturdy ambassadors for God. youthful Christians are zealous devoid of a lot restraint or understanding. they're made greater perfect by way of fact they are no longer going to hell, they have a appropriate courting to God, and that they're going to grow to be greater Christ-like as time is going on. something of the unbelieving international will proceed to act like this youngster, they're going to visit hell, and that they are at conflict with an indignant God who in no way loses. Your question is fairly like badmouthing the automobile industry by way of fact some drivers will drink and rigidity and reason injuries. they are no longer meant to; it fairly is against the handbook, yet they're blowing it besides. persons are sinners, and the church converts sinners. devoid of Christ, sinners are sinners are damnable sinners.

They think ANY disagreement at all makes them "oppressed."

If all but one human being on the planet were Christian, that one person would be hounded mercilessly and accused of "persecution" and "repression."

Most are non-fundie and don't. Fundies want a theocracy and they can't have it so they feel oppressed. That's it as near as I can figure. Plus, they want us to be Isreal's attack dog and although the current government - bush- goes along with it,our people clearly don't like it.

BTW, I'll excuse you for not using the word "most" in front of Christians =^)
