My baby was under the Christmas tree in his cute little carry-all. Seemed like all his friends had birthdays in December. That's a lot of birthdays to remember!

Won't God forgive me for not believing in him? I thought he forgives all that we do? I would think he would understand this. If he gave us brains to think logically, how could he possibly expect us to blindly believe in him with no evidence? Or I guess how could he PUNISH us for not believing?

I live in the United States and I love my country but I know many Americans who say America is the best country is the world without having seen the world. Currently, I do think I live in one of the the greatest country but who am I to say this? I have not traveled to every country in the world. Who am I to say that my country is "better" than all of the other countries when I have not even experienced them? Sure I could say America is a land full of opportunities and we are the richest country, but does that make us better? Not necessarily. You could say third world countries have many problems but so does America. Each country has it's own features that make it beautiful and great. The entire world is sacred, not just America. I have come to a conclusion that I have to travel the world before saying America is the best but who is anyone to claim for a fact America is the best? It is all a matter of opinion. Can't we all be the best? Why do many people say their country it the best?

Can you relate to the words at all?

I Have Decided Sung By Amy Grant
I have decided,
I'm gonna live like a believer,
Turn my back on the deceiver,
I'm gonna live what I believe.
I have decided,
Being good is just a fable,
I just can't 'cause I'm not able.
I'm gonna leave it to the Lord.
There's a wealth of things that I profess,
I said that I believed,
But deep inside I never changed;
I guess I'd been deceived.
'Cause a voice inside kept telling me,
That I'd change by and by,
But the Spirit made it clear to me,
That kind of life's a lie.
I have decided,
I'm gonna live like a believer,
Turn my back on the deciver,
I'm gonna live what I believe.
I have decided,
Being good is just a fable,
I just can't 'cause I'm not able.
I'm gonna leave it to the Lord.
So forget the game of being good,
And your self-righteous pain.
'Cause the only good inside your heart
Is the good that Jesus brings.
And when the world begins to see you change,
Don't expect them to applaud.
Just keep your eyes on Him and tell yourself,
I've become the work of God.
I have decided,
I'm gonna live like a believer,
Turn my back on the deceiver,
I'm gonna live what I believe.
I have decided,
Being good is just a fable,
I just can't 'cause I'm not able.
I'm gonna leave it to the Lord.
I have decided,
I'm gonna live like a believer,
Turn my back on the deceiver,
I'm gonna live what I believe.
I have decided,
Being good is just a fable,
I just can't 'cause I'm not able.
I'm gonna leave it to the Lord.
I have decided,
I'm gonna live like a believer,
Turn my back on the deceiver,
I'm gonna live what I believe.

I honestly didn't expect quite -this- much difference of opinion on such a relatively straight-forward question.

So, can some one break it down into simple terms for me? Is it generally beleived that Jesus said to obey the old laws, or did he say that they should be disregarded?

I have some Christian friends who are admittedly quite embarrassed by Kirk Cameron, and especially his banana argument; they have said quite clearly that they believe this does no credit to Christianity and that it actually damages perception of their religion. I was curious what Christians here felt about this. Do you think such "arguments" hinder the perception of Chrisitianity, or do you feel strengthened in your faith by such things?

Everyone be nice, please!

No u.s.(absorbed by a one world government) No paper currency, 1/3 of the population of earth destroyed. And for kicks, how about a mark or maybe a chip without which we won't be able to buy or sell? Have we been Fooled into a war that actually furthers a one world government? (Search for "there is no international terrorism " statement by a former head of russian armed forces, not a follower of Christ, like me)tell me what you think. As for me and my house we shall serve the LORD. For there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we MUST be saved. Jesus saves. Take the blinders off.

My Son rang to wish me H.B. but he didn,t want to chat, which was strange. A couple of minutes later the phone rang and I had a recorded message babbling on about Gatwick Airport and Family Holidays. I thought it was a scam and ignored it. My Son rang again to see if I had got the meesage and the upshot was that I have... a 2 week, booked and paid for, holiday abroad with my Son, D-I-Law and 3 Grandchildren next July!! How cool is that?

I have had about enough of people telling me that I'm going to hell because of this or that! Isn't it so damn convenient that you Christians are perfect! I am just so sick of people forcing beliefs on others.

So....

What makes you so damn sure yours is the "right religion" anyway? You never hear of people trying to convert Christians into non-belief, just because they think its wrong to be Christian? Why do you all feel the need to preach when those who believe are most likely already Christian? Is there like a monthly converting quota to hit or something? And most importantly why do so many "Christians" show so much hate all of the time? What ever happened to love thy neighbor?
What makes you holier than thou?

whom did I hear it from?

For years, maybe decades my household was visited by different members of Jehovah's Witnesses, both in my native country and in two states in the USA. It was through them we got to know and read a lot of the Bible. My mom, and then later us, would buy whatever books and the two types of magazines they always brought with them. At times they were simply gifts, at least many years ago. But now everything I thought I had learned from them, it's told me it isn't the case.

Is it just me being confused completely, or anyone else hear from them, that there were Antichrists_whether one or many, I can't recall_and that only one ruler would rule the world. That there'd be only one monetary unit. And that whomever didn't have mark of the beast would not survive easily?

Most famous thing they use to say was something similar to what's in many other people's mouth nowadays: "A new world order". No one heard this before?

It seems there are a lot of report happy folks on yahoo, and most certainly here on the R/S board. What is the weirdest violation you have received?

Mine:
Last week I simply asked "What's for dinner?" on my way out the door after work, I wanted some dinner ideas and figured I might have one by the time I got home. When I checked in at home 15 minutes later I could see I'd had 11 responses but I couldn't even view them because the question had been removed. And yes the violation notice was in the mail.

BTW I did asked in the general society area not the R/S so it wasn’t off topic. And I think the "what's for dinner" is one of the greatest recurrent debates of our society.

I was watching Zeitgeist and its was interesting how much of the Bible has to do with astrology. Is that why astrology was forbidden? So no one would figure it out?
