Won't God forgive me for not believing in him? I thought he forgives all that we do? I would think he would understand this. If he gave us brains to think logically, how could he possibly expect us to blindly believe in him with no evidence? Or I guess how could he PUNISH us for not believing?

Now, obviously we can’t “prove” that God exists or doesn’t exist, since He is outside of the physical realm. What we can do is look at the physical realm and see what the evidence points toward. It is more like proving a case in the courtroom by presenting and examining the evidence and then coming to a conclusion.

It certainly is reasonable to suggest that if there is a God, He would have made adequate evidence available for us to believe that He exists. And that’s what Romans 1:20 says: “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”

As Dr. Werner Von Braun said, “One cannot be exposed to the law and order of the universe without concluding that there must be design and purpose behind it all.”

Lord Kelvin (the Father of Thermodynamics) said, “Do not be afraid of being free thinkers! If you think strongly enough you will be forced by science to the belief in God, which is the foundation of all religion. You will find science not antagonistic but helpful to religion.”

The universe is here, intelligent design is here, beauty is here, morality is here, the desire for God is here—what is their adequate preceding cause?

Correction. He forgives those who repents & asks for forgiveness. You not believing means that u wont repent, meaning you wont ask for forgiveness meaning...no forgiveness.
As for that part with you having the brains to think logically so how could he expect you to... etc, well that is exactly the point. Millions of us who have brains 2 think logically have used those brains & have realised that there is an abundance of evidence that prove that there is a God. The other few like u are trying to come up with other explanations for the evidence...& have failed very miserably. Man evolving from apes, & sheep turning into cows, & all that crap. If u get punished u will have deserved it.

That is exactly why He gave you a choice. The very same reason we give our children alternatives everyday. For example, if you stay out after nine you will be grounded for two weeks. The other alternative is that you can come home at or before nine and avoid being grounded. I hope this made sense.

Where forgiving is concerned , if you say you are sorry about something then you are not supposed to repeat the act anymore.

Finally there are plenty of evidences pointing to God, it's just that we have derived ways of explaining them away. If the things that are happening today was happening during Bible times, then more those persons would have truly found God.

God bless

As an atheist I admit there might be a supreme being but he can't be as hateful and rottenhearted as some of the people on the R&S section.
If you think you are running heaven look at your old posts. Shame on you. The God I read about in Suday schoo and the Hesus of the Bible is a kind long suffering man.

He gave up his life for mankind, not so you can call people jerks.

I fought so people like you could be free, I am entitiled to my opinion. Look in the mirror before you cast aspersions. I have seen what kind of suffering your religious wars have caused people. Shame on you.

Sounds like you believe somewhat or you wouldn't be worried. You make a point though and I think the bible is inconsistent.
If God loved everyone, then he would show some kind of proof to help those who didn't believe rather than let them wallow in this so called fire. By the way, how can being in eternal fire be bad...you are dead, there are no functional nerves left in your body, in fact you have no body and you need a body with funcional nerves to feel pain.
We didn't condemn ourselves...if he gave us a brain then he made us think the way we do and our brain needs to see to believe, the ones who don't need that are gullible.
And what is this surrender to him crap, people surrender to enemies, not someone who loves them.

God only forgives those who come before Him with a contrite heart and ask Him for forgiveness.

Like the lyrics say "If you want Faith, you're going to have to believe a little...."

It's called a "Leap of Faith" for a reason.

So when you go before God and say "But....but...I didn't really think you exist!" and He points out all the opportunities in your life that he gave you to change your point of view, what do you expect Him to do?

JOKE: "A man is at his house on a floodplain, and a policeman comes by and says 'The water is rising, you better get out,' the man says 'God will save me.' Hours later, the water is up to his front porch, and a boat comes by and the skipper says 'The water is rising, come with us,' the man replies 'God will save me.' Late that night, the man is forced onto his rooftop, and a helicopter comes by and the pilot says 'Sir! Please climb up the rope so I can take you to safety!' the man replies 'God will save me.' The man drowns. He goes before God and says 'Lord, why didn't you save me?' God replies 'I sent a car, a boat, and a helicopter, what more did you want?'"

So when God says "I gave you Moses and the Prophets, I gave you Miracles and Signs, and you chose to ignore them, what more could I have done?" you better have a really good answer ready.....

If you read the OT and see what a sworded and depraved God these people think exists, then you will see he won't forgive us for not believing. Good. I wouldn't want to spend an eternity with that anyway.

Consider this, your parents love and provide for you, they give you all you need to eat, shelter, care for you when you are sick, love you unconditionally. The day you turn 18, you leave home without a word, never to call, or write, not even to say that you are still alive. only to show up at their deathbed, 30 years later. Not to say you love them, but to see what they have for you when they die? how do you think you would be received?

People from all religions, even atheists (except those who know the truth and refuse it), have the same chance to go to heaven as christians have. This is because God is Just and since Christ died for all mankind. This is what the catholic church teaches.

John 3:18-21
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

This verse tells us that you need not believe in Jesus to enter into heaven, all one needs is to believe in the God the Father who art in heaven, Everyone gets to heaven, but only those who do the works of God the Father who is in heaven, will be chosen to live in heaven (a new heaven and a new earth)
