Back story:

Isaiah 7:1-2

1 Now it came about in the days of Ahaz, the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Aram and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to wage war against it, but could not conquer it. 2 When it was reported to the house of David, saying, "The Arameans have camped in Ephraim," his heart and the hearts of his people shook as the trees of the forest shake with the wind.

The Great Gazoo's response: No

The mechanism is pretty well understood. It is entirely based on reproduction and survival. There is no evidence of any thought behind it.

Is this not contradictory and therefore unreasonable? He says it's based on reproduction and survival, which I believe is evidence of a "mind." Reason: Because if evolution were random, wouldn't it be also likely that it were based on the opposite of survival? Instead of evolution tuning itself in a way that allows humans, live to survive, why doesn't it do the opposite? If it didn't have a conscience and was completely random, why is it constantly fine tuning itself in ways that help support life?

Atheists would obviously HAVE to disagree with my reasoning. So, since I already know you disagree with me, EXPLAIN why you disagree with me. I really do not want anyone telling me something like, "well, evolution doesn't have a conscience because that would be rediculous."

Refer back to the question everytime.

Where does it say we should do this -- examples from the Scriptures or talks by Church leaders would be appreciated?

When I was a kid, we didn't have no money or food, so us kids had to eat rocks. Heck we were so poor my momma had to stand in line to get rock stamps. Sometimes, when we was standing on the sidewalk outside of Bob's TV and Radio store a watching the Johnny Carson show, I would kind of nibble on the granite facade. Now, I might sound like a bag of marbles when I walk past you, but hey, I can feed a family of six just by walking across a gravel parking lot. But my real question is this, where on this Y/A thing is the poor people section, I think it must be the hoity toity food eating people who won't let us have our own section. What do you think?

they only have the Bible to defend their faith and back-up their beliefs, what if Satan is using the Scriptures to them and is leading them to somewhere else but heaven, how can they know if they are being mislead?

during the time of Moses'
One possible explanation for plagues and the parting of the water is the Santorini volcano eruption and tsunami that occurred sometime possibly coincident with the exodus.

According to tsunami experts, the massive volcanic eruption on the Greek island of Santorini around 1600 BCE could have generated a giant tidal wave or tsunami that struck the Nile Delta, parting of the sea, triggered the ten plagues during the time of Moses' escape from Egypt. Tsunamis are often preceded by the water withdrawing from the shore. A mega-tsunami caused by Santorini's volcano would siphon billions of gallons of water - not just from the shore but from connecting rivers and lakes - creating dry land for as long as two hours. This would give Moses and the Israelites enough time to cross, although maybe not 3 million of them. Heavier chariots may well have been bogged down in the mud. Evidence is based on findings along the rock beddings of shorelines in Africa and Egypt.

Seriously, if you want to get a lot of responses to your question, just ask a question dealing with the fact that Jesus was well known to have been an African.

Seems the report-monkeys are out in force lately -- suspended twice in as many days, without even having any of my posts being reported!

But let me ask you: in your experience, who is more intolerant and draconian in R&S -- theists or atheists? Atheists, do you specifically target the Christian ranters in an attempt to get them banned, or just deftly refute their circular logic and unsubstantiated claims? Theists, are you willing to defend your faith with the strength of your arguments and the weight of the evidence, or do you try to shout down or banish anyone who disagrees with you?

Time to switch tactics -- we're not going away based on anything YOU say or do; and you just prove yourself all the more intolerant and irrational each time you try to silence us....

Seriously, i have gone through the memorys of my life and realized how useless i am.
Can anybody find a solution?

2007-10-23 07:42:20 · 30 answers · asked by Anonymous in Religion & Spirituality

isnt a God.
I try to be what I consider is a good person. I am loving, I am forgiving, I try to make right decisions in life, and Help out others as much as I can.
However, I do not follow any religion, because I have not found one the makes any sense to me.
They are all basically the same thing, over and over again to me.
Now I ask all of you who believe in Heaven and Hell in the afterlife, If I am the best person I can be, and do what I feel is right, why, if it turns out God exists, would he send me to Hell?

I ask that you do not give Bible quotes or state what you "know" to be the "truth" because this does not help me.

I do not follow the bible and I do not follow religions, so anything having to do with that will be ignored.

I just want honest opinions

Sorry I used to love Christmas, now I just hate it. I wish I could just hop on a plane and skip the whole thing! It's just a farce.

Ok the kids look forward to it but really I'd rather take all that money and plop it into a beach vacation away from everyone.

Oh when you’re down and you’re looking for some cheering up
Then just head right on up to the candy mountain cave
When you get inside you find yourself a cheery land
Such a happy and joy filled and perky merry land
They’ve got lollipops and gummidrops and candy things
Oh so many things that will brighten up your day
It’s impossible to wear a frown in candy town
It’s the mecca of lovely candy cave
They’ve got jellybeans and coconut with little hats
Candy rats, chocolate bats, it’s a wonderland of sweets
Buy the candy train to town and hear the candy band
Candy bells, it’s a treat, as they march across the land
Cherry ribbon stream across the sky and to the ground
Turn around, it astounds, it’s a dancing candy treat
In the candy cave imagination runs so free

With such a wonderful place, how can you say no to find the sacred Candy Mountain??

I was watching a football game with my son a couple of weeks ago. It was just a game of tackling and men trying to force their wills on their enemy men.

It was a good and pure experience, with all sorts of physical action and drama. Men teaching other men. Then it was ruined.

The cheerleading team was leading people to sin over and over. It's sick. You are watching this game of future leaders of our new generation, men who lead other men into battle and understand their leadership role in the world. Other men understand this and love it.

Then these women come into play and tempt all these men and women away from good things. There are cameras out there, and these women who have legs that don't quit run out there and do cartwheels. It's sick! I left at halftime, because I didn't want that kind of stuff in my mind anymore. I can't deal with people who lead me to sin, and Jesus is my tourniquet.

WHy can't these life givers be more modest in their dress. It's driving this nation crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
