Sorry I used to love Christmas, now I just hate it. I wish I could just hop on a plane and skip the whole thing! It's just a farce.

Ok the kids look forward to it but really I'd rather take all that money and plop it into a beach vacation away from everyone.

OH I enjoy the TRUE spirit of Christmas, I just hate all the family that comes with it and all the bull of presents that nobody wants and the time you have to spend with them all. LOL

It's just become a boring obligation, and I would rather do something more in line with what Christmas is all about....or just skip it altogether.

It's not about presents at all. In fact we spend ridiculous amounts on presents, and they are just thrown to the wayside within weeks. So why bother with that nonsense for the thrill of having something to do one morning when you really should be spending it in church anyhow.

What it really boils down to for us is that we can't do anything because we are obliged to do all the family stuff. We're like 22 people crammed into a small place and for what? They don't even want to bother with gifts anymore so why bother getting together, it's all so ho-hum. These people can't even stand one another and put the act on for just a day? Spare me...GOOD THING THERE IS LOTS OF BOOZEE AROUND is all I have to say....LOL

Well I love Christmas, since we have a very small family, me and the kids, sit around all day ..in PAJAMAS! really it's more fun we get little presents we just keep it really low key. Yes I gave up, I quit the big boroohahaha..no getting together on Christmas eve, with the fish thingy..(usually kids hate it)..just quitness and stillness all around. It's a beautiful thing!
Yes Midnight Mass it's the most magical ..that's why the day of Christmas is a mandatory day for us.. to SLOW down and enjoy my little family.
I even give out our Christmas cards with our PJ family picture..yes i'm weird..but it's CHRISTMAS ..and it comes to a whirlwind..and then finished...it's really Magical for kids.

I think that we have all lost the true meaning of christmas. It's all become so commercialized. The stores even start setting up way in September. I went to Wal-Mart on Halloween and there was a big sign saying something like 55 shopping days left till christmas.

I can never despise or dislike Christmas, just because of all the memories that I've had during past Christmas seasons, seeing my family, enjoying the spirit of the season, I don't care about gifts, or commercial, I love Christmas, no matter what!!!

How old are your children. ?Talk with your husband about the possibility of a trip. Or if they are older present the idea of not exchanging gifts and just having a family gathering. We have stopped buying gifts within the immediate family and everyone seems to like that!

I know exactly what you mean. Now that I am an adult (33 yrs old), it really isn't as fun as it used to be. I mean I haven't forgotten the meaning of Christmas since I am a Christian, but It has lost something....and I am not sure what, I just don't enjoy it anymore.

I don't dread it. But I miss Christmas times past. I miss making bags upon bags of treats for kids in church. I miss sewing umpteen Nativity Costumes and gluing chicken feathers to tagboard for angel wings. I miss going over the ballet dance with whiny little girl angels 100 times. I miss paper chains and stringing cranberries. So I dread the missing and longing for Christmas past part.

Tell me about it. I D E S P I S E Christmas. I now have 2 young kids so I guess I have to get into it for them, but I am most definitely NOT looking forward to spending the better part of a week with my wifes family. OHHHH my blood pressure hits the boiling point just thinking about it.

I hear ya honey! It is fun to shop for the kids and watch their little faces light up, though...even when they are hoppin on the bed at 5:00 in the morning tryin to wake me up. When the kids are up and grown, maybe I'll just plop down on that blanket right beside ya on the beach!...lol
