isnt a God.
I try to be what I consider is a good person. I am loving, I am forgiving, I try to make right decisions in life, and Help out others as much as I can.
However, I do not follow any religion, because I have not found one the makes any sense to me.
They are all basically the same thing, over and over again to me.
Now I ask all of you who believe in Heaven and Hell in the afterlife, If I am the best person I can be, and do what I feel is right, why, if it turns out God exists, would he send me to Hell?

I ask that you do not give Bible quotes or state what you "know" to be the "truth" because this does not help me.

I do not follow the bible and I do not follow religions, so anything having to do with that will be ignored.

I just want honest opinions

good for you
i am too.

Apparently if God exists we are damned for not repenting of our sins how ever few or insignificant those sins may be.

The concept of God is whole and all-encompassing...you are an agnostic today, you might be a born-again Christian two years from now and an atheist a week later. You cannot experience your entire life in a single moment or decision; Truth will only be revealed when you return to the whole...be it Heaven, Nirvanna or mass-into-energy.

Remember that no man can truly understand God wholly while on Earth. Therefore, all judgements and interpretations are filtered through imperfect, although often well-meaning, minds. It is not God telling you that you're going to hell, it's just a man telling you his interpretation of God's judgement.

When you marvel at the fall leaves turning yellow, does it matter that a German calls the color "gelb," a Frenchman "jaune," or an Italian "gialle"? Aren't you all seeing the same thing and simply assigning you own name? My God is very likely something you also see, just by another name.

Don't get me wrong, there is a definite line between right and wrong within your own ethic and in how you interact with the world. Violate these boundaries and you will pay a price.

The saddest thing about atheists and agnostics is that, in rejecting a particular interpretation of God, they often reject all sense of universal order and meaning. Reject the notion of universal truth and you deny any hope for universal understanding and connection.

I disagree with the first answer. Although often the agnostic is incorrectly presented as not being an atheist. The two are not mutually exclusive. Unless an agnostic is a theist then by definition they are an atheist.

I would say the hardest position to defend would be the theist agnostic. In other words "I believe there can be no proof in what I believe in"

All religions conflict and contradict each other. They can't all be right and none can ever prove they're right.

If he is all knowing then god knows what would convince everyone. The old saw "no proof would be sufficient for those who don't believe" is illogical even from a religious standpoint. It says there is something god doesn't know. It's a direct challenge to god. How can those people know what god wants?

If there is a god who made us he made us all begin with no theistic belief. We all start as atheists. Why not stay that way until he chooses to change that? How could it be wrong to stay the way he made you?

In spite of the evil way atheism is portrayed it simply means religious neutral, without theism. It does not mean you claim to know there is no god or you reject gods word or will. It means you reject those humans who claim to speak for god and know his will.

For me, given all of the options the choice seems an easy one. As an atheist by the definition of the word I can only say I don't know if there is a god because only god could prove god. If he made me I am the way he made us all, an atheist and if he didn't make me I'm still the same, an atheist.

What should you do? No idea. I don't claim ultimate knowledge like some here are doing now. But good luck. We all take our own path.

honestly I have never believed in a religion, and in fact all of them do have the basic same layout, just most religious people believe that theirs is the most important, and everyone has to believe that religion or go to hell. well if we get sent to hell because of us not following the right religion the obviously Hell is a better place,

hell you don't get judged, you get treated just like everyone else.

If heaven is such a great place why do you have to qualify to get in, heaven is like a night club, you can't get in unless you do the right stuff. I much rather go somewhere where they accept me for who I am.

ALL men proclaim their own goodness and don't see they're In violation of God's word. As humans we catogarize sin. To God It's all the same. From reading your question you've made a God to suit yourself & your needs. God doesn't send people to hell.
They send themselves with Whom they've chose to serve.
It's you're choice.
Eternity Is a long time to be wrong.
We can't even fathom eternity.
Hell Is a horrible place. It wasn't created for God's creation(mankind),but for satan & the fallen angels.
If you do not follow the Bible then you're lost. I don't follow religion or denominations.Just a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I'm a full gospel believer. There Is no other way to heaven, except Jesus Christ.
But In refusing to make a choice you've made It already. Because you've refused Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross. There Is No Gray area when It comes to your erternal destiny. It's black or white.

I have bad news for you. When Bill Gates finally dies, you are not going to inherit anything from him.

It is not because you are a bad person. In fact, you probably helped to make him the success that he is be buying and using some of his products. You probably did some neat things that he would have appreciated. You might even by a fan of his, with his picture hanging in your room, etc.

But he is not going to leave you anything.

There is a simple reason for that, you do not have a relationship with him. You are not part of his family.

People get that idea that admission to heaven is based on being a decent person. Or can be earned by some thing that help God. They may even be a "fan" of God.

But if they have no relationship with him, if there has never come a time when they have acknowledged his Lordship over their life, if they have never been reborn into his family by faith in Christ, then they are not in the will. They will not inferit anything.

The Bible is divide into two "testaments", which is an old fashioned word for a "will". Contained within it are the things that the family members get when the writer of the will dies. Jesus was the one who made those promises, and then died to make them available.

But if you want to inherit them, you have to join the family.

It is strange that a God who promotes loving and kindness will send someone to hell just because they won't conform to any religions that have been shaped by men to gain power and cause injustices.

My honest opinion?

Yes - if you are the best person you can be and always do what you feel is right - you will go to Hell.

Not because God "sends" you there.

But because you have chosen it for yourself already.

You are choosing to sit on the fence because of indecision, so there is no easy solution here as far as I can tell. Somewhere along the way, faith will be required from you if you really want to move off that fence. I won't quote scripture to back myself up, but in the end, you will have to make a choice.
