Russia will hook up with Persia (modern day Iran) to try to defeat Israel in the Gog Magog war as stated in the bible. Can anyone see a similarity to our wordly current events? Do you believe Russia will work with Iran to annhilate Israel/US/Europe? All beliefs or lack thereof appreciated.

The Tower of Babel Story. I challenge all Christan's to defend this story. Keep in mind the Christan's i have spoke to believe this to be a literal event!

Genesis 11:1-9

We basically learn three things here #1 that the people who wrote the Bible thought that it would be architecturally possible to build a tower that would take you up to heaven. #2 That the biblical God became frighting at these bronze age architects in verse 6. #3 And action was taking at that point to to create all the different human languages instantaneously.

We have built sky scrappers that can reach much higher then anything they could have dreamed of back then. We have steal reinforced concrete instead of brick and mortar and we have better architectural designs and yet so far no one has yet to make it to heaven in an elevator. We also routinely travel to the clouds and back and yet God doesn't become frightened. We have travel to the moon and back and yet God didn't strike at NASA to prevent that from accruing.

A few years ago, a relative of mine and her friends were at a sleepover and were doing some rather stupid things thinking they could communicate with ghosts and stuff. Well, they maintain that they saw one, all of them, at the same time, and they all know what they saw to this day. If this is true (and you can say what you want, but I KNOW she would not lie to me about this...), what is your explanation for this?

I already have my own answers to these questions; I simply want to know what you think.

1. If we only live one life (as I understand it, most Christians do not accept reincarnation), where were we before we took this birth? Was there ever a time when our soul did not exist? Could we ever cease to exist?

2. Is the soul independent of the body? In other words, would you agree with the statement, "I am not this body?"

3. If accepting Christ is the only way to avoid eternal hell, what about people born into atheistic families or cultures that never have a chance to even hear much about Jesus, let alone develop faith in Him?

4. How do you explain the concept of punishment lasting for eternity (i.e. out of time) fitting the crime of sins committed within time? Why wouldn't our punishment fit our sins, one for one?

5. How would you explain why, if we have no past lives, some people seem to have innate faith, while others, no matter how much you preach to them, have no faith at all?

In the Bible, who are some of your favorite people? (with the exception of Jesus)
Mine is King David. After all the things he done in his life, he never turned away from God. He was a man after God's own heart.
The one I feel sorry for the most, is Peter. Jesus told him that he would deny Him 3 times and he said he wouldn't, but as we know he did. I can't imagine what he felt like after he realized he did deny Him. Then after Jesus resurrected, in John 21:15-19, Jesus asks Peter if he truly loved Him 3 times. I just can't imagine the pain Peter must have felt.

So, who are some of your favorite people in the Bible?
I don't want any rude and nasty answers please.

free from the influence of trinitarians, unitarians, binitarians JWs Mormons etc? I wonder how it would look?

The only way that it would be hypothetically possible is to have a kid in an isolated place with just the Bible and a pen and a lot of other resources. assuming he could read and write what would he come up with? would he come up with the Athanasian creed, the Nicene creed, or the opposite view where Jesus is "just a man". I think it would be interesting and refreshing to read and we'd probably learn a lot. There's a point where I just get sick of all these debates.

Bible says, if we pray according to God's will, he hears us. How do I know that I am or was praying according to his will? Lets say that I was praying in faith, thought I was filled with his Holy Spirit, but God is silent, what does that mean?

I've been doing this since I was a college kid in my 20's.

I just read that it was a sin but how could something safe and confortable be a sin?

I like to light candles and line them up around my bubble bath when I do this and I always watch a porn pay per view on the TV set. I thought that this would be OK since I am not married and have no other outlet.
