I was raised Catholic, but didn't get much out of church. I recently started going to a Christian church and find it much more informative, without all the rituals.

There have been a few times where I felt pretty helpless and asked "God" for help and was somewhat surprised to find that it worked. However, I typically find myself praying to "God" in these instances, not Jesus.

I like hearing/reading the word of Jesus, but just not sold on the whole bible and it's story.

Why would God only send down his "son" to such a small group of people in the world. What about all the Chinese people? Why didn't he go talk to them? If I were God, that's not how I would have done it.

Anyone else feel this way?

I'm currently taking French and I'm pretty familiar with it. I'm still learning it but I'm already thinking about what language means next. Spanish doesn't interest me in the least so it definitely will not be next. I am thinking about German and Italian, leaning towards German. My question:

Are the "structures" of these languages similar to french? That is the tenses such as present indicative, simple future, past historic, etc. I'm not concerned about how close in spelling or sound, but I just don't want to start totally from scratch. If I could apply the same concepts when learning another language that would be great. Any other opinions, comments are welcome.

This is a question that might make someone uncomfortable, but I would like input from the over 50 people.

I have known this for a long time, that I am apparently hopelesly old fashioned and out of date with today's moral standards.

HOW do the rest of you deal with this? Are you on board with what is "expected" and accepted in the dating world?

It seems that today a woman meets a guy, and within a few hours is giving him a BJ. No one seems to bat any eye over this. I find it horrifying and disgusting.

I dont even like kissing a "stranger" you just met !

I have no wish, desire and simply cannot could not bring myself to fit into this "service mentality" so many woman seem to have today.

To me oral sex is an extremely intimate thing, and I find it disgusting to even think about anyone and everyone --- well dammit to me its just disrespecting yourself. I cant see ever fitting into the "new dating scene".

Thoughts? Opinions? Anyone?

Supposing you are right that the Bible is inerrant, does that mean that your understanding of the Bible is inerrant too?

after all, we are all humans, we all make mistakes, and you say the same thing yourself that we all make mistakes. so, what if you are wrong in how you understand what the Bible is saying?

My baby boy died last year , and I would like to have a Tattoo with a Latin inscription. His name is Latin and is Caelum, which means heavenly and on his headstone we wrote sic itur ad astra which means such is the way to the stars.....

Some ideas I had for a tattoo are;

With little wings he took to the stars
or
I see his refection in my husbands face.
or
I look into my husband's face and I can see my son.

Can anyne translate these for me into latin and/or give me any other ideas for latin words I could use ??

Do Christians realize that the platitudes they offer those who go through intensely painful things in life are a great way to turn them off to the Gospel message permanently?

I was a choir member and Sunday School teacher for 12 years or so, and my third son was stillborn at 8 1/2 months. There was no hidden sin or anything in my life, and I believed everything the church told me to. Why would a loving God do this to me? And why would people feel the need to feed me cliches and pretend that it was meant to be and I should not question it?

Sorry to rant. I just despise having something so tragic and hard to understand handed back to me with a big bow tied on top that explains it all.

lately, i've been getting message after message from someone who disputes the big bang theory, with the claim that it is nothing more than hearsay evidence. is it just me, or is this the silliest thing i've ever heard? i understand people have their faith, and that's fine. but how can anyone look at the tons of empirical data, that has been gathered from the smartest minds of the 20th century, which has then been extrapolated hundreds of times over, only to reach the same conclusion time and time again, and claim that it's hearsay? is this not the epitome of foolishness?

Some state that Hell is a firey pit where demons and bad- doer's spend eternity in pain and suffering. This is supposedly created by God where you go after death if you are a sinner.
Think about this...
If the Lord our God is the epitome of what is good and is the most loving forgiving person to grace the earth.
Why then would he want to cause pain and tourtue to those who sin?
The logical idea....... Just that those who sin won't rise and see paradise.

I am! :(
I was born in a catholic home and converted to christianity by a friend. Now I am very dissapointed about the lives of many christians who claim they love Jesus but their lives prove the contrary. I do love Jesus, but I prefer to do in in my own catholic religion and besides I have seen miracles when I have prayed to saints. And by the way this goes to the "holier than thou christians" who will flame my post and say stuff like: "You will go to hell", "You are not supposed to pray to the saints", blah blah..:
You are worse than the worst murderer out there because by your bad example you are sending souls to hell!! Besides when you point to judge me, 4 fingers are pointing right back at ya! Ha Ha Ha!! :oD
