lately, i've been getting message after message from someone who disputes the big bang theory, with the claim that it is nothing more than hearsay evidence. is it just me, or is this the silliest thing i've ever heard? i understand people have their faith, and that's fine. but how can anyone look at the tons of empirical data, that has been gathered from the smartest minds of the 20th century, which has then been extrapolated hundreds of times over, only to reach the same conclusion time and time again, and claim that it's hearsay? is this not the epitome of foolishness?

I've long thought of myself as obtuse because I have real difficulty "reading" my fellow human being's emotions. I often don't realize someone's outrageous statement was intended as a joke, and it's almost impossible for me to recognize sarcasm without obvious hints. Often, in a movie theater, the entire audience is laughing before it occurs to me to think of what I've just heard as a joke. I know my IQ was once very high (157) and I did get a perfect score on my SAT back in the '60s, yet I generally seem to be somewhat out of it whenever I'm required to interact with other people. The truth is, anybody who really knows me could justifiably call me "obtuse." I certainly can't help it; it's just the way I am.
The believers you describe in your question, the one's who choose to ignore tons of empirical data, and the opinions of the best and brightest physicists humanity has ever managed to produce -- the one's who've never even taken a class in Calculus or Differential Equations and who don't have a clue about either Special or General Relativity -- the one's who have the unmitigated audacity to believe they must discredit the Big Bang, Abiogenesis and Evolution simply because such profound science apparently contradicts the superstitions of our ancient ancestors -- such people are far from obtuse. What such people are is simply ignorant, uneducated, and foolish. "Obtuse" is a word generally used to describe people like me, certainly not people like them.

i don't know about "hearsay", but the "proof" you speak of that's been "extrapolated hundreds of times over" is just what you said. from human minds that happened to be smart. i am not that smart, so i had to look up "extrapolated", which basically sounds like an educated guess. i can dig scientific evidence, but some cat with too much time on his hands trying to figure out if and when a bug farted and started the universe really isn't PROOF. you are right, hearsay is a stretch, though.

Are you aware that scientists such as Einstein tried hard to discredit the Big Bang theory because it supported the idea that the universe had a beginning (as in Genesis)? The fact that it has a beginning is far more important than the timeline.

I have been getting similar stuff.
It is mind boggling, but stems from their inflated sense of ego.
That is fed by an indoctrination that claims they were made uniquely by an all powerful God that has a specific purpose for their lives.
This inflated ego, allows them to claim that all the human brainpower throughout recent history is wrong, and their emotional, faith based, belief is right.
Basically it boils down to them having to give up all self worth, in order to accept any theory that doesn't agree with their theory of God.
"If the big bang is true, then I am NOT unique, and DON'T have a purpose"

There are 2 types of facts: Real facts & christian facts
For christians to believe their facts they must be conditioned this requires:
attack their sense of reason at an early age
Isolation within like minded people
Trust in elders (priests)
fear of damnation if they don't believe
They are also taught that all outsiders are controlled by the devil
You can't argue with someone who has chosen to forgo
their sense of reason

They have the big book of all knowledge that they know is true because it says so.
No amount of evidence placed before them will change their opinion. If the book said that the sky was green with pink polka-dots, then they would know that that was true. Anyone claiming the sky was blue would be a devil worshiper!

Those are the same group of people who felt it was heresy to say that the earth was not the centre of the universe that the sun was. And they put Galileo in jail for the rest of his life for sticking to his guns and having evidence for it as well. They always say it is heresy when someone disagrees with them or their church or their brainwashing.

in common terms 2-equilateral suited is impossible because of the fact all equilateral triangles have angles of 60, 60 and 60 for the reason that they could be equiangular and a hundred and eighty/3 = 60 subsequently a ninety equilateral can not exist something are all plausible

Im more scalene myself....though once I was equilateral.
Not foolishness, its ignorance of what the term Hearsay means. The Bible is hearsay - words directly attributed to coming out of the mouth of Jesus, written years after he allegedly said them.
