Do you realize what you're saying when you say "Golly" "Gosh" or "Gee" or "Heck?"

Those are "polite" substitutes for "God!" and "Jesus!" and "Hell!"

Almost every seemingly meaningless exclamation is actually a euphemism... a substitute to speak the unspoken.

How's your conscience deal with that?

It's mankind that's upset the ecological balance on the earth.
It's mankind that chooses not to heed warnings where earthquakes are likely to happen etc...etc

So why do you think some people blame 'God'?
(I've even seen priests & vicars blame God for the Tsunami)

It seems were were less germophic and built up our resistance to many illnesses. Aside from ear infections and regular old colds we seemed fine. The younger ones are having all these allergy problems and their mom's worry about germs and are contstantly using sanitizers. We are developing tough "Bugs" because of all this santization. Many mom's insist on antibiotics for their kids, again, many resistant types of bacteria. Bacteria adapt and become resistant to all this stuff

There are many Christians that want to ban books and stuff. I wonder if Mormons have expressed any desires to ban books. Here are some example that I would expect to have banned:

anything that demonstrates the validity of egyption hyroglyphic translation
reason: Joseph Smith gave obvious and erronius translations of hyroglyphics that have been published. Actually diagraming the papyrus like a scolar would. The discovery and latter translation of the Rosetta Stone verified that he was mistaken on every guess. The first english translation of the rosetta stone came after Joseph Smiths death. Nothing was found to be correct. The reason that would be important is because most of the strange Morman doctrine comes from that.

banning any encyclopedias that discuss the absence of horses in North and South America, the absence of the wheel, the absence of any civilization that is remotely similar to anything discussed in the book of Mormon.

I guess those would be the big ones

No religion. Morality makes sense to have. Only purpose in life is to advance as a society. What do you think?

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn beyond the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see there is so much more
and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.
Reaching out to embrace the random.
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.

I embrace my desire to
feel the rhythm, to feel connected
enough to step aside and weep like a widow
to feel inspired, to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
to swing on the spiral
of our divinity and still be a human.

With my feet upon the ground I lose myself
between the sounds and open wide to suck it in,
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out,
I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.

Spiral out. Keep going, going...

Catholics believe we have to confess our sins to a priest to be forgiven. If we need a priest to have our sins forgiven why did Jesus when He taught the apostles to pray did He tell them to ask God to forgive their sins? If we need to go through a priest why would Jesus when He taught them to pray tell them to ask God to forgive their sins? I see no where here where He tells them to confess to man but instead to confess to God. So why confess to man?

Luke 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Luk 11:3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
Luk 11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

One of my closest friends when i was a kid is now she is out partying and getting drunk and having sex with Who knows who......
I haven't really talked to her in a long time b/c she doesn't call me back when i call.....now she posted these gross pics on her site...and my youner sis found them..they made her cry b/c my friend was like a sis to her...I feel like I should try to do something like drive over to her house and tell her that she makes her mom cry everynight since they had to kick her out of the house..
but i know that wont work...'cause she wont listen to me.....
so just agree with me in prayer that God will touch her heart somehow and that He will use someone that she will come into contact with and that whoever it is will bring her back to Christ....

Im believing for a miracle in her life.....

I have tried to go to her work and i don't know where she lives and neither does her parents so its not like i haven't gone to heaven and back.....

I am a lapsed Catholic divorcee, in love with an LDS guy. I adore this dude but am extremely gun-shy after unhappy experiences; I respect his belief in his church's doctrines, though I have issues with the doctrines themselves.

He CLAIMS to respect my beliefs, is crazy about me, and wants us to marry, but every now and then he admits that he's sure I will "realise the truth" and convert one day. I have told him that waiting on the offchance we can get "eternally sealed" is very risky for him, and that he may one day resent me for it if I don't convert.

I have tried to call it quits with him quite a few times, but neither of us can bear it. He is sure things will work out. I'm not so sure. But I find his faith that things will be alright oddly compelling. (Don't worry- no kids will be involved. Have decided on that already).

1. Is he nuts? 2. Am I nuts? 3. Is it doomed, or do we stand a chance? PS His dad hates me and thinks I'm ruining his life.

are born and live in countries/cultures where christianity is marginalized or non-existent?
most ALL of these people will never be introduced to cristianity in any sort of meaning ful way.

for the sake of being objective, you have to put yourself in someone elses shoes here.
you know that the idea that your religion is false and theirs(Islam, for instance) is true is an absolute absurdity to you.
You will never take another person attempt to convert you into their faith serious.
and the reason why you would never take their testimony of their faith seriously is because you feel that you know for CERTAIN, certain that all the jesus stuff is true.
you might say you have had an experience where you "felt" the spirit.

Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, so that your days may be long and that it may go well with you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

if your parents are not christian and follow another religion and they're wish is for you to also follow that religion....then should you go against your parents and choose jesus even if that means going against a commandment?

Does the Roman Catholic church now accept that Jesus' birth date was not 25th December but infact in September ( i have heard it could even be in March)? Do they now also accept that he did have at least one brother - James (again i have heard, it was 4 brothers and 1 sister) ?

Many thanks
