They're not looking at me mean or anything, just staring at me. In class, at the mall, whatever. Not all the time, though, just sometimes. I'm ordinary looking and don't dress revealingly.

Hi, my name is Phil.

Just have a question about the relation between my religion (Christianity) and psychics.

If psychics/witches are looked down upon in Christianity, and they are a so-called "abomination" (I've heard that used on them before), then why did the Lord grant them the specific powers/mental capacity to perform such actions?

And if they are "false", then why are they mentioned in the Bible as being TRUE (See: Witch of Endor?)

Enlighten me...

I would consider racism a mental thing. People think that someone from another race is "different". The only way to destroy racism is to help everyone understand that all people are the same, right?
So, if we are trying to take down that invisible wall, why do so many applications ask if you are black, white, Native American, etc. For example, to get into graduate school, to file for Financial Aid, etc. Why should my race have anything to do with me getting financial aid or not? Doesn't this continue to strenghten the wall instead of destroying it?

Boutiques in the Philippines carry a lot of these whitening products, from soap, lotion, and even drugs promising Filipinos to become white in due time. I understand that brown skin protect people in the equator against the harsh of sunlight but why still join the whitening bandwagon? Aren't Filipinos meant to be brown, the same way that African are really meant to become black - a required complexion where you're born.

Yesterday asked a question about atheist and someone gave me a pretty cool answer that said that people stop believing because something traumtic happens to them.... So I was thinking .... isn't that a good enough reason? If you constantely worship and praise get during your good times, then when dark times come that deity isn't there then why bother?

This is a sincere question - I am not trying to be irreverant....

So I'm reading through Joshua 16-20ish and it is one big long list of all the tribes and they're listing the regions they received and the names of all the 30+ cities each tribe got etc. And I am finding it hard to pay attention - can you tell me why I should care or what significance this will play later in the bible? Or does it?

I apologize if that seems an insult, but it is not meant to be one. The following article disturbs me:

Apparently, Dobson is calling for all Conservative Christians to not to vote Democrat or Republican in the next election because neither party has a candidate that will take a pledge to protect "the sanctity of life." Instead, he asks everyone to vote for WHATEVER minor party candidate, as long as that person will take the pledge to protect life.

Does not qualification to perform the job os Leader of the Free world mean anything to you? Is it more important to end abortion rights in America than it is to have a President who has experience in foreign affairs?

How will you vote? For who you are instructed to vote for, or for who is most qualified?

There are at least two theories on where THIS all came from, one is God created it. The other is, it just all neatly happened.
One of these might be the correct answere.
As for evedence for either possibility, look around you.
look at the universe in all it's wonder.
look at the way a baby looks at you with a big smile.
look at how your body works,
look at...
Well, how did it get here?
There is no real proff in your belief either.

I'm not catholic, but I'm a fan of beauracratic salvation and I'd love to be a middle man for Gawd. How would they even know I wasn't catholic if I applied to a seminary?

Don't they have to take your word for it or is there like an ID card that all practicing catholics get from the vatican?

When he says he is the way and stuff I think that means he is how you are supposed to be. Be like him and you'll do good.

I don't think Jesus was meant to be the go to man to get to God, I think he came to teach us how to be directly connected to God.

Thoughts?

Isn't it true that you must have both and not one or the other?
The Bible makes it clear that there must be a balanced relationship between our faith and its expression in good works.

James 2:14-18
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well," but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Indeed someone might say, "You have faith and I have works." Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.

Heb 6:10
For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name by having served and continuing to serve the holy ones

Rev 2:2
I know your works, your labor, and your endurance ...

Mt 5:16
Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.

Please take the time to read this question THOROUGHLY! And please answer it sincerely and completely. Each part is essential to the overall intent of the question. All “Christians,” “Atheists,” Muslims, etc, etc. are more than welcome and even encouraged to answer and give their views:

Why do you suppose that Christians have been singled out for discrimination in American society, generally by those who insist that tolerance is the highest virtue? That is, why does our culture deem it permissible to denigrate deeply held Christian beliefs while insisting on the greatest deference for most other faiths and even secular world views? Could it have anything to do with Christianity’s perceived judgmentalism, its exclusive truth claims, or its adherence to moral absolutes? If so, how do other religions [such as Islam], which also have exclusive truth claims and strong moral standards, get a pass?

It seems certain questions permeate the minds of many:
"What can I - one single person - do, to influence the world?" and "What more can I do?"

Might you already be doing it? Why must more be done?

So many, in life, are always trying to be something "more" than they already are. Standards are set so high that when they are not reached, an individual can be lead to feel like they're useless. So many look to the future as if it holds all the answers to their hopes and dreams; and will harbor feelings of inadequacy if everything doesn't work out as they "planned."

So I ask... Might it be best to stop trying to figure out where you're going and how you're going to be "more" than you are now, and just enjoy where you're at, and who you are, in the present moment?

Maybe you're influencing this life, on a much grander scale, than you give yourself credit for!

Thoughts...?

The timeline is after the second resurrection; we're almost back at square one, and everybody is learning the truth.
The animals have been restored to the companions they once were, and our loved ones have been beside us for some time, as well as many we formerly knew nothing about. Sigh. Where are you, who are you with, and what are you doing?
Go on! Paint me a word picture you're proud of!
Can I get a Hallelujah?! Can I get an Amen?!
Oh, and never mind the 'static' on the 'current channel'; we can tune it out.Let's just share, for a minute..."They can't take away our FREEDOM!!!"
