I'm not catholic, but I'm a fan of beauracratic salvation and I'd love to be a middle man for Gawd. How would they even know I wasn't catholic if I applied to a seminary?

Don't they have to take your word for it or is there like an ID card that all practicing catholics get from the vatican?

1. I have a job...I'm a journalist.
2. I'm not even gonna touch the pedophile jokes cause that crap is so old at this point. There's so many other things about priests to make fun of.
3. Any records or letters of recommendation can be bought. Even parish priests have a price.

Actually, the process of appying to the Seminary is a very complex process. They would need proof of your involvement in the Church and that would mean recommendations from your parish priest. They would check Church records to ensure you had properly received all of the Sacraments before you are ordained. You would be expected to submit to a complex psychological evaluation, appear before a selection committee, provide references, etc.

However, before you ever got to that stage you would have had to have been working with a Spiritual Director to help you discern your vocation.

The Catholic Church screens candidates for the Priesthood very carefully. You couldn't just show up at a seminary, claim to be Catholic, and away you go. An no we don't have ID cards from the Vatican. The Church keeps records of our Baptism so there is always "proof" so to speak that we are Catholic.

One final word of advice, religion for many is a serious topic. I personally find it offensive that so many people post idiotic questions, engage in attacks on the beliefs of others, etc. You are entitled to your beliefs, but disrespecting the faith or belief of others is simply childish and ignorant. Keep it up and you will get reported for abuse.

Yes there are the Baptismal certificate and the Confirmation certificate in every Catholic parish you have to present them to enter a seminary.

There is no bureaucratic salvation- you mix it up with the hierarchic structure of the church- that was given and willed by Jesus.

Yes, all Catholics have a holy ID card issued by the Vatican. The vatican has the retinal scan and fingerprints of all Catholics in preparation to when we take over the world.
