...and in fact claims to be a faith healer themselves, pay the big bucks to get treated at the best cancer center in the country and then give all the credit to God for healing them?

Because they have been brainwashed to follow the party line and to say that they believe in faith healing, but in the back of their minds and in the place in their hearts where truth is hidden, they KNOW better. Otherwise, you're right, why would they ever seek out the assistance of any doctor, ever?

Clearly, they feel like they HAVE TO say that faith healing works. If your whole congregation stands up and shouts amens and hallelujahs and praise the lords and you are the only one sitting down and saying wait a minute folks..... you are awfully conspicuous.

I feel sorry for them having to live such a laughably hypocritical and false life. Truth is much better, much easier. OF COURSE you go to a doctor, ferrheavinsakes!! Having some preacher slap you on the forehead and scream to Jesus that you are HEEEEUUUULLLLED of your cancer is not going to help you when the tumor has metastasized bc you figured the preacher man was in direct contact with the big white man in the clouds.

just my opinion...

Because as a Fundamentalist, they have actual read the Bible.

In the Bible, Jesus himself said that "the sick have need of a doctor" at times.

In the Old Testament, nearly 1/4 of the 614 laws that God gave were instructions having to do with diet, sanitation, washing, medicine, and other natural/physical ways of treating and preventing disease.

Even Paul travelled with a physician (Luke), and instructed his disciple Timothy to use a little wine if needed as a medicine because of his frequent stomach illinesses.

You may recall that in a time of need, Jesus multiplied food to feed 5000+ people - but he did not tell them to stop buying groceries or cooking food. When Peter needed tax money, he supernaturally provided it in the mouth of a fish - but he did not tell Christian to quit their jobs and pay their bills by miracles.

Nor will you find a single place in the Bible where a Christian is told NOT to use medicine or doctors. According to the Bible those are some of the methods provided by God for healing. Supernatural miracles is another. But nowhere are we told NOT to work and live on miracle finances, or not to shop and live on miracle food, or not to take medicine and live on miracle healings.

The advantage the Christian has is that the natural cures can be supplemented with supernatural aid from God when needed. As a "fundamentalist" who actually reads and understands the Bible, he appears to know that and is acting on it.

I know what you mean. I am a Christian and I do belief in faith healing. I have faith that God has given the gift to humankind to create medicines to heal us.

It may seem that it is 'hypocrisy', but I dont think it is. I believe there are people who have been healed by God without medicine and there have been those that have been healed through medicine. I can't explain it, but I truly believe that God is the giver of life and death.

Because even the most devout, outspoken, zealous fundies in the world know on some level of their consciousness that it's all a crock of sh*t. And if one finds himself in a life or death situation that only secular medical science can pull him out of, he'll likely grab that chance like a drowning man grabs a life preserver and then, afterward, desperately find a way to reconcile the experience with his superstition so that he doesn't have to give up his emotional crutch.

Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to King Artaxerxes, as follows— 9then wrote Rehum the commander and Shimshai the scribe and the rest of their colleagues, the judges and the lesser governors, the officials, the secretaries, the men of Erech, the Babylonians, the men of Susa, that is, the Elamites, 10and the rest of the nations which the great and honorable Osnappar deported and settled in the city of Samaria, and in the rest of the region beyond the River. Now 11this is the copy of the letter which they sent to him: “To King Artaxerxes: Your servants, the men in the region beyond the River, and now 12let it be known to the king that the Jews who came up from you have come to us at Jerusalem; they are rebuilding the rebellious and evil city and are finishing the walls and repairing the foundations. 13“Now let it be known to the king, that if that city is rebuilt and the walls are finished, they will not pay tribute, custom or toll, and it will damage the revenue of the kings. 14“Now because we are in the service of the palace, and it is not fitting for us to see the king’s dishonor, therefore we have sent and informed the king, 15so that a search may be made in the record books of your fathers. And you will discover in the record books and learn that that city is a rebellious city and damaging to kings and provinces, and that they have incited revolt within it in past days; therefore that city was laid waste. 16“We inform the king that if that city is rebuilt and the walls finished, as a result you will have no possession in the province beyond the River.”

WHEN THE THINGS ARE DONE IN PRIDE AND CHALANGE gOD DOESN'T HELP US..ACTUALLY God is healing...people are just agents..even when a mean is healed by medication..also God is healing..

When they asked in the Bible Jesus to do miracles..Jesus rejected them( a certain people)..saying that they are sinners and whores(men and women all )..and they won't receive from Him a miracle except the sign of the prophet Jonah..?i don't know the english for his name..

so healing somebody needs a great faith..it is not enough to know or acknoledge that God exists,. it is not enough to fullfill His comandemnets..you mus love God with your whole heart and mind..and never doubt it..and acknowledge all His truths..fight for Him..like the saints martyrs did maybe....even the priests could not receive the power to heal..and even an ordinary man can heal himself or another one if he is a believer..a true believer..but this means a lott..and what i saw on r& S is far from being a beliver..wHEN YOU BELIEVE IN GOD..YOU NO LONGER BELIVE IN THE POWERS OF HUMANITY LIKE POLITICS, PSICHOLOGY..medicine., or the talent of a painter of the bright mind of an inventor, or the goodthought of a writer...etc..you know that everything that is good is made By God , and thrugh His power and talent or advise sent to those who listen to Him- including the priests who coordinate our lifves..they give the advise not from them..but from God..(the good advise)..and they have the power from God to help us and relif us..from anger and demons..(demon could give anger) and you must love the other the way youlove yourself meaning..if you don't say about yourself that you are mad,..you won't say about the other..if you give yourself to eat..you give the other..if you buy fr you good clothes..you must buy good clothes for the other..and help him. and be his lawyer him.at the face of the mankind

God not only has the ability to instantly heal someone but He also gives doctors the knowledge and skill to heal the body as well. They go hand-in-hand with each other.

Because it was God who created intelligence in man and gave him the wherewithal to learn medicine.

Or he could just be a hypocrite.
