there are some nonmuslims who seem to have read quraan and hadith all by themselves, without the help of any scholar, and seemed to have understood it so well that they are now picking out lines apparently speaking of killing nonmuslims and teaching us muslims, how violent our holy book is. Is this fair? for example in quraan in ch4, there is this instruction given where ALLAH has asked us not to offer prayers if one is drunk. now anybody who reads this line without it's context details and hadith will conclude that one can drink when one is not praying, which is not the case. how can something as sacred and complicated as a holy book be read without it's context and claimed to have been understood in it's actual sense?

My fiance and I are newly saved and we are still learning and don't know a whole lot. We have made changes in our lifes that include, changing the music we listen to, the words we speak, the way we spend our time, etc. My fiance is a musician and he has previously suscribed to magazines that teach him about up and coming equipment, new ideas in the industry and what other musicians are currently doing. This is not a christian based magazine and the musicians are not producing Christian music. We have searched for a magazine with the same quality of information with a Christian message but could not find this, what are your opinions on continuing to read and take information from these magazines?

Despite all the religious zealotry that exists in this country do you think we (government, citizens, civil liberties organizations) have done a good job at keeping American society as secular as possible?
If not, want more do you think should be done to further this cause?

Our boy scout den is doing a float in the parade this year. The theme of the parade is "Deck the Halls" . Any suggestions on how to decorate the float?

So many countries around the world have freed themselves from their Monarchy such as France,Germany,Russia,China,Mexico,USA, and many others, when will the people of the UK ever do the same? What's taking them so long? The Royal Family have never worked a Day in their Lives, they don't even have real jobs, the decision to remove them should be placed on the voting ballots for the people to decide.
That way they can decide if they want to keep being subjects of the queen or to become citizens for once in their life. Why do so many people think they need the wisdom of Prince Charles to get by? Will the people of the U.K. ever wake up and wise up?
There's a lot of problems in America, but any citizen there can become President and no one kneels to anyone unlike in the UK where you have to kneel on bended knee to the Queen (what the Hell for?)

I'm talking about the formation of the bible in the year 500 AD.

Who gave the authority to men to decide what books should be included, and excluded, from The Holy Bible....wouldn't that make the books that were not included Unholy?

They testify of the life of Jesus...so if they said those books are unholy(or evil in some sense) wouldn't that be almost the same thing as saying the life of Jesus, through these people's eyes, is evil....in some sense of the word?

If God wanted to determine which books were Holy and which were not...wouldn't He have had the disciples write them earlier...and then have Jesus aprove of them?

I dunno...to me it just seems unfair for some guy to say "oh yeah...I like the book of John it's good....ohhhhhhh the book of Thomas? Not so good...burn it."

agree or disagree?

Atheists say we are hypocrites. Atheists are constantly judging people, especially Christians. So the atheists are the hypocrites, not the Christians. They also say that we are always quoting from the bible. Well, they are always quoting from "The God Delusion" (what irony! They are delusional!). The hypocrisy never ends with atheists. It's sad really.
Atheists are of this world and like this world, they are doomed. Christians are "in" the world, but not "of" it. We are saved. Not everyone can or will be saved, and the atheists are not going to be saved. I know I am saved.

I always hear "I experimented with girls in college" or i just "experimented" in general. I've been confused about being straight/bisexual/gay lately and I just have this idea in my head that once i get to college everything will make sense. I'll "experiment" and i'll be able to fill in all the answers to all my un-answered questions i have. i dk i just have this idea that college will make everything better because right now its way to hard.

There isnt anyone that i know that i can talk to about what i feel, being bisexual and whatnot, and no one knows that i am. So, i cant be open with my feelings and explore. Thats another thing, everyone always says to teenagers like me, "dont lable yourself yet, just explore your feelings" and i cant just go around and do that.

hmm ok so that wasnt much of a question. I guess what im trying to get at is, how do you go about "exploring" your feelings when you cant tell anyone and you dont know anyone like you?

im 16 by the way...

I realize it was Muhammad that came up with this (in hadith, not Koran), but Allah gave him the right. And did this idea come to him before or after he married a little girl? Could there be a connection?

Ok atheist, you motto is “NO EVIDENCE, NO GOD”

Ok, if there is no evidence, there is no such thing as God.
But when it comes to the theory of the big bang, why do most of you believe that the universe will collapse on itself creating another universe?
There is not evidence for the contraction of our universe, IN FACT, the evidence points out that the universe will expand forever!
Ok, my question is why do you believe in theoretical science topics such as the big bang theory, string theory, etc… if there is no evidence for strings or even the contraction of our universe?
Why don’t you apply the same criteria as when you say NO evidence, no god?
Just think about it!

I'll let them every once and awhile get something to drink or eat, but now they just come over and take what they want.

I have Kool-Aid (the pouches and little bottles) and they just take and drink them. And they take my other roommies water... i get mad about it but not say anything. I'm going home next weekend and i'm afraid to leave my stuff there...that when i get back it'll all be gone...

How can i let them to stop taking things without asking first?

If there was a "scientific proof" that God existed would your whole belief towards the matter change? And if there was substantial proof who the hell would need faith.

I will describe the newest encounter with this question.

First his beliefs. God is God, but not in 1 but 3. So, The father is the father, and God, but Jesus is the son, and God. Etc. He believes that Satan is not a being but someone against you. As in say, the government. He doesnt believe in hell as eternal punishment, but as a place they put garbage in the beginning. A place of eternal fire. And last, he believes that when we die, its blackness till the judgment, then no one goes to heaven or hell, we just go back to sleep.

Ok, now that thats established, heres the question.
I came up with alot of verses that stated hell as a place where you go if your not saved. Eternal separation from God because of sin. He asks, "How can a loving God send us to hell for eternal punishment?" Ive been asked this before, but I need help finding really good verses, ones that are straight to the point, no room for interpretation type.

Jesus makes clear that it will come after the gospel is preached in all of the world and not back in AD 70 as some suggest. Will it be seen from Judaea? Will it actually stand in the holy place?

Matthew 24:14-15 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
Public Domain

14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

I was wondering if you have problems with all the other religions besides christianity. Virtually every question here is in regards to god and Jesus and none really seem to go towards other religions. So yeah, do you have problems with other religions too? Or do you wanna tackle the main ones first and then move on to the smaller ones?

(Im being serious and not sarcastic. Im not trying to be offensive or anything.)

If being gay was a choice, don't think that there would be more GLBT? I mean, i didnt choose to be lez, but i like it. I think once people get past the fundie's lies, more people would want to try it out given the choice.
