Muslimah (muslim women) should covered their bodies from their toes up to their hairs except their faces and their arms. All their part pf body which should be covered called aurat. It is based on the God's instruction in the holy Qur'an Surah 7 verse 25 (7:26) Hey Adam's children(descendants)
really We(God) have given you clothes for covering your aurats and beautiful clothes for your ornament Taqwa (compli
ance to God) clothes is the best. That is part of the power of God and hope you will always remember it.In 24:31 (An Nuur)
God spoke:Say to to faith women:They should avoid their seeing and maintain their privy and they do not show their ornament except those which are normally can be seen. They should cover with clothes from their hairs down to their breasts and they do not show their ornaments except to their husbands, fathers.fathers in law or to their children or their step children, or their brothers and sisters or their nices and cousins or other muslimah..In 33:59 (Al Ahzab)Hey Muhammad prophet, tell to your wives ,your daughters and wives of mumin (muslim men) that they should wear jilbab(hejab)to all of their bodies .This is for their easiness to be recognized and in order to be saved (avoiding annoyance)
.God is merciful and forgiveful.
So muslim cleric can believe that if a muslim woman is uncovered in public, she can be interpreted that she invites bad guys for sexual assault.

Yes, it is apart of the muslim's belives and most other christian society. A woman's body must always be covered showing only the face the rest of her body must only be shown to her husband. Some christian's don't follow this believe as it was taken from the Old Testiment.

Depends on the sect. Some do, some don't. Just like some non Muslims believe that any woman wearing revealing clothes is asking for sex and even if she says no she means yes.

There are many Christians and other Americans that believe that a woman dressed "revealingly" is "asking for it." The number of people who feel this way has declined over time, but it is still a significant factor.

This is not true. What Muslims believe is that women must be modest in their dressing. They should not invite unnecessary attention.

Women who are properly dressed, in the Islamic sense, are safe from such attention. People who talk to them respect them for who they are and not for what they are wearing or not wearing. Furthermore, the Islamic dress code, frees women from the peer-pressure of being fashionable.

"A cleric who said women who didn't wear a veil were 'uncovered meat' asking to be raped..."

This is so disgusting that it's hard to find words to describe the contempt I feel for anyone who would say such a thing.

I don't know the answer to your question, but us Muslim women cover because it's God's rule, He knows best, and it's protection for ourselves and for the society. It's also a way for us to recognize each other as fellow believers.

maybe in australia but not all. We believe it as inappropriate. It is sinful to dress like that. "One hair seen by her non muhrim is one hundred years in hell" thats why muslim women are mostly very religious
