Calling all atheists : In Islam, there are specific signs named about the end times. Some of these signs have passed, and some are yet to come.. and as for the signs that have passed, how do you explain them? If Islam truly wasn't the word of god, then how come these signs came true?

How bout you see the signs for yourself : http://etori.tripod.com/dajjalsystem/judgement.html
Remember, as you read along, you know some of the signs have passed.

For example :
-- Smog will appear over cities because of the evil that they are doing (Pollution, especially in China)
-- The conquest of Constantinople by the Muslims ( The Crusades)
--People will hop between the clouds and the earth (airplane)
--A man will pass by a grave and wish that he was in their place
--The people of Iraq will recieve no food and no money due to oppression by the Romans (Europeans) -- ISNT THAT HAPPENING RIGHT NOW !!

How do you explain these signs..? Half them have come true, and half of the signs are

The idea that all revealed truth is to be found in "66 books" is not only not in Scripture, it is contradicted by Scripture
In addition to this, for 400 years, there was no defined canon of "Sacred Scripture" aside from the Old Testament; there was no "New Testament"; there was only Tradition and non-canonical books and letters.

2 Thessalonians 2:14-15
Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle. 15 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God and our Father, who hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation, and good hope in grace,

"Traditions"... See here that the unwritten traditions are no less to be received than their epistles.

2 Thessalonians 3:6
And we charge you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother walking disorderly, and not according to the tradition which they have received of us.

1 Timothy 3:15
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

"The pillar and ground of the truth"... Therefore the church of the living God can never uphold error, nor bring in corruptions, superstition, or idolatry.

2 Peter 1:20-21
20 Understanding this first, that no prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation.
21 For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost.

"No prophecy of scripture is made by private interpretation"... This shows plainly that the scriptures are not to be expounded by any one's private judgment or private spirit, because every part of the holy scriptures were written by men inspired by the Holy Ghost, and declared as such by the Church; therefore they are not to be interpreted but by the Spirit of God, which he hath left, and promised to remain with his Church to guide her in all truth to the end of the world. Some may tell us, that many of our divines interpret the scriptures: they may do so, but they do it always with a submission to the judgment of the Church, and not otherwise.

2 Peter 3:16
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

Question: is cult religion wrong?

Question Details: Ok so everytime I talk...[question text deleted]

Deleted Answer: There are several definitions of cults, but generally you could consider LDS as a cult but you could also consider it as a religion in it's own right. The things I use to determine the difference are Are they public or secretive? Do they seem to brainwash their followers? Is there a central leader that is personally revered more than anyone/thing else. Do they strongly resist their followers leaving? Do they seem to have a fanatical loyalty. There are probably better tests but these cover the basics and try to identify whether a cult/group is dangerous. It would be helpful if you could post the name of the religion/cult/group. The can't eat pepperoni is really weird.

59 years old on disability for 1 year.
wants to return to work
can make $26appx. hour at medically trained career job. I get job offers all the time.
My full retirement isn't until 67 years old.
I have heard many diffferant things that I should stay on disability and some say go back to work!
I miss my 37 years of work! my profession!
I think I maybe able to go back part time!
Full time might be a bit too much for me!
but I'm bored at this disability thing
I want to know financially the status how is that?
when I turn 67 will I just get what I am getting now in disabillity but it will be social security payments? or it will be more since I will have worked more and put more into it? or they go by your 10 best years??
can someone give me some insight on this before I take the plundge into doing some part time work??

Im tired of seeing news stories about how someone is facing legal charges because they beat their dog, or killed it.

Why?

We murder millions of cows, chickens and pigs each year without any compunction.

Why do we have such hypocritical double standards? If I want to slaughter a dog I should be able to slaughter a dog without being charged with "animal cruelty".

So I ask again: Why should killing a dog present us with a greater moral dilemma than killing a cow?

You can find a call in talk show to ask questions about the Christian faith and the Bible in almost every state in the USA. Why dont the LDS (mormons) or the JW's have call in shows. Why do they have to send 2 or 3 people to your house to answer a question. Before some of you get mad! I am not a mormon basher, I was born and raised in Utah, I know very well about their teachings and belief system. I dont hate them, my entire family is lds. I know there are questions they refuse to answer and that goes for the Jehova witnesess too. They are both very arragant about how true they are but they wont answer random questions from the public live.. How come?

With all the trouble in heterosexual marriages, would you still consider marriage, or just live together. Do you want the right to marry for the benefits, or just because it would validate the relationship? I am not gay, but I am all for gay marriage. I don't see how two people loving each other is wrong, or why you all can't marry. Any serious answers are welcome-or non serious, either way.

is negative. He is a tyrant, out to punish people. Why do you need intercessors between you and God? Why is it that you have to pray to mary or saint theresa etc.
I am from a christian family and my mum until now always says
" may Mary protect you".

On the other hand, God says in the koran:

" And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concernIng Me, then (answer them), I am Indeed near . I respond to the InvocatIons of the supplIcant when he calls on Me (wIthout any medIator or Intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe In Me, so that they may be led aright. " 2:186

It seems to me that in Islam, God is more approachable than in christianity (where one need to go to other channels to reach god)

Hi!

I've noticed that a lot of Christians and Atheists on YA seem to snipe at each other, which brings a bitterness our dialogue could do without. On closer annalysis, this seems prelevant among Americans. My experience is that when people talk about their passion to build together regardless of faith, cultural & other outlook factors great things can be achieved that benefit the human race. Why are some people so threatened by those who see things another way that they belittle their own school of thought? As a Christian, I would say that someone who was judgemental was not being Christian and wonder why they would claim to follow the man who advised his followers not to judge.

If something as simple as putting on a suit or claiming to follow a recognised path made a person "good", life would be too easy. What is this sniping thing about? Is it the way Christianity, for example, is interpreted & therefore expereienced by non-Christians in a given culture?

Good wishes.

1 John 2:27 (Ambassadors or Envoys?) "And as for YOU, the anointing that YOU received from him remains in YOU, and YOU do not need anyone to be teaching YOU; but, as the anointing from him is teaching YOU about all things, and is true and is no lie, and just as it has taught YOU, remain in union with him." (And how do we come to know which we are in fact?)

ask about 90% of the human population and they will tell you quickly that they do not believe in such things. These things are discounted quickly by Christains worldwide. They say it is nonsense to believe in that garbage.
I ask if you can believe in a god why not these other things that themselves may also give some merit to a god if they were real.
How can you so easily discount them when you think people who discount a god are stupid?
I feel about your belief in a god what you feel about people who believe in vampires, werewolfs, and gargoyles.

or do you believe in vampires, werewolfs, and gargoyles?

(*Please, no rode remarks from non-Catholics. I want Catholics to answer this.)
