You can find a call in talk show to ask questions about the Christian faith and the Bible in almost every state in the USA. Why dont the LDS (mormons) or the JW's have call in shows. Why do they have to send 2 or 3 people to your house to answer a question. Before some of you get mad! I am not a mormon basher, I was born and raised in Utah, I know very well about their teachings and belief system. I dont hate them, my entire family is lds. I know there are questions they refuse to answer and that goes for the Jehova witnesess too. They are both very arragant about how true they are but they wont answer random questions from the public live.. How come?

Take one good look here on Y!A and you will see why such a radio show would be futile. It's bad enough that we can't really ever get into the "meaty" aspects of the gospel because our critics are always so preocupied with our garments, our belief in potential human divinity, and what our dead prophet of over 150 years may or may not have done, should we really spend our money to deal with the same thing? I guarantee you that very few people would call in for the sake of better understanding or increasing knowledge of LDS beliefs.

Another thing about these "question and answer" talk shows on Christianity, they tend to not be real. They are proselyting tools where advocates of the show call in to ask a question for the mere sake of preaching. It makes the so called "expert" on the show seem less confrontational.

Vot I just have to say you're a nice JW and that at least you didn't try to interrogate the Missionaries too much. I like to think of the Book of Mormon like an extension cord that you plug into the Bible. It helps to clarify verses found within the bible. I doubt any LDS would say, let's just toss the Bible out. But LDS don't just rely solely on just Book of Mormon, we also have to plug in D&C, Pearl of Great Price to get a good view of everything. A few months ago I was studying for a Temple prep class and the instructor had me dig out scriptures from the Bible, the Book of Mormon, D&C and Pearl of Great Price. It's was awesome seeing how various verses corresponded with each other., for example I was looking up verses in regards to the judgment, the plan of salvation etc. and how they all fit together from all these sources. As for the Missionary knowing you had a NWT. Well maybe they did see the magazine or maybe something else prompted them to say what they did. Anyway if you're curious you should ask them how did they know you had a NWT? I am sure that answer would be interesting as well.

While I understand you're not a Mormon basher, unfortunately the same can't be said of all people out there. There are non-Mormons I've encountered (and yes, I'm a Mormon) who, if the Church were to come up in a discussion between us, would prefer to argue with me about some aspect of the Church, rather than ask legitimate questions, and they will not accept any explanation that disagrees with theirs, no matter how logical or well-referenced the answers us Mormons give might be (you say that we're arrogant about how true our side of things is, but I can guarantee you that the exact same thing can be said about many an anti-Mormon as well). I don't know about you, but I do have better things to do with my time than argue with someone who's fully convinced any answer I give about my faith is only being given because I'm either a liar or have been brainwashed by Church leaders. (And seeing some of the "questions" about Jehovah's Witnesses around here, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if many of the members of that faith feel the same way I do.)

And yes, it is sad that an otherwise good idea might well have to be nixed because of a few people who don't know how to hear what others believe without wanting to argue with them.

Um, well based on some of the random questions I have seen on here I think it would kinda be a waste of money. I also prefer asking people Bible based questions, with a Bible in my hand, and a Bible in theirs. I want to be able to see them.

Honestly I have at times seen Witnesses on the news, live (I think) answering questions. I personally often simply change the channel when a show like that comes on, it can come off as annoying for one thing and it's a good bit impersonal.

On the other end, when someone has a question, and we are more than willing to talk with them, we are doing it live, in person, and in the public:D Also, depending on safety concerns at times I have talked with interested persons on a 1 on 1 basis.

Do you realize how many Mormons there are compared to other Christians. A radio show just wouldn't be plausible.

We have a system that has been set up by God, and I don't see it changing because one person thinks we should do it like other people.

You may not be a "mormon basher" but you sure ask a lot of questions that might fit into a bashing category. "By their fruits, ye shall know them"

Hmmm...well, I am a Mormon....never thought of that. Maybe because 98% of the questions would just be the same-old anti questions...I live in Utah and don't know of any LDS talk shows on the radio, we have KBYU tv where there are devotionals, replays of Conference and different things like that...but I don't know about a call-in show.
I doubt the "church" itself will ever have one, but maybe there are some people out there who would want to do it.
Good question.

Mormons are Christians and believe in the Bible. Mormon talk shows and tv shows would be contentious and our Leaders would stay away from it. However, its funny that you mention this because the LDS church owns the Bonneville Corporation, one of the largest media outlets in the US. Are their questions you would like seen answered? Why don't you ask them on here?

First, there are no Christian stations that want anything to do with us. Then, when WE call in to THEIR shows, particularly their anti-Mormon rantings, they don't even LET us ask any questions, they just start their rantings and stuff.

I don't know of any radio stations that have Mormon call-in shows and if there are any TV shows, they are in Utah. I would think that they would welcome any SERIOUS questions, and not anti-Mormon crap like asking about "magic underwear" or some other such drek. I don't know any arrogant Mormons, not nearly as many as there are arrogant anti-Mormons who call themselves Christians.

What questions do those arrogant LDS refuse to answer?

The Church does not do things that way. Where there is contention, the Spirit can not abide. Why stir up strife and debate. If you believe differently, than I do, that's fine.
