I just moved into a first floor appartment a little over a month ago. While I have never heard the people above me, apparently the guy below me can hear every step I take. Sure, I've heard loud noises: teapot whistles, etc, but I never thought about this.

He just came over and had a nice. short conversation letting me know about this little situation. It seems that it bothers him most in the morning: I have to get up at about 6 am.... I can easily imagine myself walking around half asleep with heavy footsteps in the morning.... This is my first place on my own and I've really tried to be considerate of those around me: no loud music, keeping my TV down. I had no idea this guy was putting up with this.

With that in mind, what can I do about this? Clearly, I'll try to have lighter feet, but is there anything else I can try to do about this?

I was driving one day and saw her in the car behind me. She was gorgeous. I saw the street she turned into and know where she lives because her car is in the driveway. How do I ask her out without being a stalker or giving her the creeps? I don't see her walking on the street, she's either at home or on the road, so no in betweens and I have a schedule that's scattered.

I'm 18 and live in the deep ghetto of south west Philadelphia (murder capital). and I have for my entire life. Out here it's hard to live and easy to die. I lost 2 of my cousins, my little brother and my uncle since april 07 due to homicide by shooting. Marijuana took over my life since i was 15 years old. Sounds bad enough? Gets worse; at the age of 17 i got shot with a stray bullet in the shoulder in the middle of a street war. And again, last month I got shot up 3 times in the chest and hand over money. I was legally dead for 13 minutes and 43 seconds and i came back in on my own after the e.r. gave up on me. If I told you what I saw, you'd call me crazy. Not proof enough? How about since as long as I remember, I have practiced a Christian faith and have been one with God. So how could I stay so faithful in the midst of all this corruption? Beats me. Everyone around me is illiterate, and disrespectful and my daughter can't even sleep at night and I still trust only Jesus. Feedback?

Some folk insist that Yahoo! Answers makes for an honest space with quality answers. I find bigotry, racism, blinkered thinking, paranoia and such ilk that would ride a racehorse into the proverbial rails.

Much as I love Yahoo and always will ... I cannot cope this particular space when I could direct my creativity of effort elsewhere and generate real dialogue on any subject.

Em hotep (in peace).

I watch CNN, and was talking to a woman today about Bush. She said that the fact that I watch CNN is horrible and that The 700 Club is the only trustworthy program.

Which news do you watch and is your reason for selecting that station based on religious values?

…as a religious leader, god, or demigod, be practicing his religion i.e. Judaism?

I don’t think there would be much opposition to the statement that Y'shua was a devoutly religious Jew.
Even the Christian gospels indicate this clearly. He was called a rabbi (Judaic religious teacher). He was very knowledgeable of the Judaic religious texts. He followed the Torah and observed religious feasts like Passover (the last supper was a Passover feast). In the last days of his life he drove the moneychangers from the temple because he felt they were defiling this holiest of Judaic sites. He regarded himself and was regarded by others as a Judaic prophet.

So why do Christians, the self-professed followers, follow a different, religion (or group of religions) to "Jesus"? Why do they have Popes, heretics, saint, monks, nuns, George and the dragon, Santa Claus, crusades, televangelists, Christmas trees, the trinity, virgin births, purgatory, etc; all the trappings of Christianity has?

I have a friend, in great pain and stress after something happened in his life. When things happen that he cannot handle, he runs away from his life, and he has done so, now.

We are not close enough that my life would be directly affected, however, I worry for him, in his absence. I have faith that he will return eventually, but until then, there is nothing I can do for him.

How do you handle times like this, when someone you care about so deeply is absent, and there is nothing you yourself can do to help them, when they need it most?

[[I am asking in religion and spirituality, because religion/spirituality regulars, I feel, will advise me best in how to deal with this emptiness.]]

I am a teenager who is very aware of his morality, and of sin. Before I knew it was considered a moral sin, I masturbated 3 times, and looked up pornography. Like any unknowing teenager. I plan on confessing, but in the meantime I have been plagued with temptation, and almost anytime I have the opportunity to masturbate an internal war rages inside me. I never have given in entirely. But I hate feeling like this all the time. I don't know when I confess my sin, and I realize if I masturbate in full knowledge of it being a mortal sin it would be horrible. How can I overcome this daily (sometimes multiple times a day) feeling?

Humor - After my morning ordeal with my partner over finance's i would say it represents WOE, (woman the woe of man.) Please that remark is in jest and is not a personal belief.
i was just wondering if anyone new what the (wo) represented?

Remember, like gravity....it is 'just' a Theory

Here you go:

1. Many more individuals are born than can possibly survive, thus there is competition for limited resources

2. Within this vast number there is variation, and because of this variation some of these individuals will have an advantage--however slight--over others

3. The ones who have the advantages are more competitive and thus they are more likely to obtain the limited resources

4. The ones who are succeeding in securing the limited resources are more likely to reproduce and thus pass onto their offspring the more competitive traits

Just wondering what the name of this concept was: It is the idea that even small events influence the major ones. That all actions/influences will find who they are meant for. For example, a butterfly looking for food who is then pushed into the path of a bird who tries to eat it. To this chase a cat is added, who while running across the street gets in the way of a child on a bicycle who has to slow down in order to not hit the cat. As the child comes to a stop, he realizes he just missed the oncoming path of a car that has run a stop sign. Does anyone have a name for this? Thanks.
