I'm 18 and live in the deep ghetto of south west Philadelphia (murder capital). and I have for my entire life. Out here it's hard to live and easy to die. I lost 2 of my cousins, my little brother and my uncle since april 07 due to homicide by shooting. Marijuana took over my life since i was 15 years old. Sounds bad enough? Gets worse; at the age of 17 i got shot with a stray bullet in the shoulder in the middle of a street war. And again, last month I got shot up 3 times in the chest and hand over money. I was legally dead for 13 minutes and 43 seconds and i came back in on my own after the e.r. gave up on me. If I told you what I saw, you'd call me crazy. Not proof enough? How about since as long as I remember, I have practiced a Christian faith and have been one with God. So how could I stay so faithful in the midst of all this corruption? Beats me. Everyone around me is illiterate, and disrespectful and my daughter can't even sleep at night and I still trust only Jesus. Feedback?

I recommend moving. Moving a long way from where you are now. Sounds like just about anywhere would be better.

Let's see. You're 18. You smoke pot. You have a daughter already. And you seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when bullets are flying. Are you sure you're saved? You need to behave more responsibly for the sake of your daughter. It won't do her any good to have a dead father. If I were you, I'd scoop her up and get out of Dodge. Find a good church that will help you. Where is the child's mother?
You need to make some intelligent choices and soon. God gave you a brain. Use it.
I'll pray for you.

Jesus is all that any of us truly have for protection and provision. Take your daughter, trust the Lord, and move to a safer neighborhood. Pray with your daughter and give her what you have. Legally dead for 13 minutes means Jesus showed you great and mighty things. Trust the Lord and make a better life your you and your daughter. May He continually bless you. And what a blessing you are to me. Thanks for sharing.

If you had a Near Death Experience thats positive then you're right if you try to explain then they will think you're crazy.

How do you stay faithful?

You aren't made of the same thing as natural man. You have life and are called to bigger better things. Ask for a way out of your situation for your daughters sake.

Love one another as I love you.

When I was a young mother of a 3 year old and my husband left me for another woman, I moved to a city 300 miles away to give my daughter a better life. Why don't you move out of that hell hole and give your self a chance? You might find opportunities present themselves where they weren't there before and never WILL be!

Good luck.

My wife said it best, and she would know growing up in the ghettos of Mexico City: "When death can come at any minute, you'd better always be ready."

I'd say that that doesn't prove God at all. It just proves that you are strong of will, living in a horrible area, and that you are an incredible human being. But that's all.

Sure. Theres only one thing I have to say. The burden of proof is on you! I'm sorry to hear about the tragedy you go through, but that really doesn't convince me to believe in the existence of... specifically your God.
