I get approached by these vultures all the time at networking envents.

There are so many people calling themselves "Financial planners" when they are sheeps in wolves clothing.

There was a time when I had respect for these guys but since the industry became deregulated, it seems everyone is into this con game.

SIDE NOTE: This is not an insult to the good financial planners, I know they do exist.

We're trying to figure out a name for a Gen X church. We are Gen Xers, and want to let people know that this isn't a "regular" or "traditional" church. No "Christianese" (words that non-Christians wouldn't understand, or are pat phrases), please.
We don't want money; we want to offer the info about Jesus in a down-to-earth, real-life application, way. Entertaining, comedy-club type atmosphere that someone who's never been to a church would feel comfy in. Not boring.
Bring it on!
Thanks for your help.

I personally think love is a feeling that we act upon, but I do not think love is the action itself. Christians have told me that love is an action. What do you think?

I used to understand Christianity as a fundamental part of the world and how I related to it. Now that I am starting to lose those beliefs, I feel that it would be very, very difficult to get back to a place where I accepted them as undisputed truth. How did I ever manage to believe it in the first place? Why does it seem so hard to believe now? I mean, I know the specific reasons--I was raised to believe in Christianity, so I believed in it as much as I believe the grass is green. I lost my belief because I started to question all the things that didn't make sense to me, and then I started talking to atheists who made a lot more sense than I was prepared to handle. Is it possible that I could ever go back to believing again?

I have heard so many things about the Mormon faith. I know that some of it isn't true, but if some of it is true, I don't want to have any part of it. Like, I'm a single mom, and I'm of the understanding that if I join the church, I will be expected to marry a Mormon man very soon. Is that true? Any information you can give me will be helpful.

While in Judaism, however, there is no belief in a supernatural evil and no belief that demon possession is possible?

Rabbi Peter Rubenstein from New York’s Central Synagogue, says, “… Every human has two inclinations, one to do evil and one to do good…. Our hope is the individual tries to access the inclination to do good. There is a balance." But, he said, evil is done "when we enter that other side.”

So where did this whole "demon possession" phenomena come from? If Jews never had it, and still don't have it, then it can't be from their god. To my knowledge, there's never been an agnostic or atheist that has ever felt the need to have their kids exorcised. Same with the Pagans and Wiccans and Buddhists and Heathens. As far as I know, only people with a christian background are affected by demon possession, or even believe in it.

Why wasn't there ever any demon possession in the Old Testament? Is it just another christian invention used to scare people into believing?

I know we are all fallible, but all the christians I see either teach damnable heresies, false prophecies, or they add words to the bible. All of these things are against the bible. Either they are ignorant because of the flesh or they do this on purpose. Is there any denomination that does not do this?

Is this a major sticking point for various Christians, or are other points of doctrine more important to you?
