How often do you put something into words that you think are clear, only to have them 'thud' out of your mouth like a brick?

And the REAL question - what is the impact on your experience of life when this happens?

(Thanks to New Moon for the question inspiration!)

The dissociative quality of language is highly underrated, I think. Communication is always thought of as a journey of information from point A to point B, but often this is not the case. Not only can language have an obscuring value, but it is necessary to remember that the receptor in the exchange is limited by cognizance.

Simply put, on the road of communication, there are some who cannot read the signs along the way.

I played thumbs up fairy, and I really want to give Bittierage at least five! She is quoting the very song that I quoted for an answer within the last few days. I think we are all misunderstood at times. Words are powerful. Sometimes we think we are tossing a verbal pebble, when another perceives it as a boulder. I think some are more inclined to explain themselves than others, and will work to express themselves clearly. There are some unfortunates who are so self absorbed that they leave careless remarls with no thought of communicating anything other than their distain for others.

On here...Everyday!

I think we have to realize that different parts of the States use the same words, but have completely different meanings.

Not to mention, that there are people here that aren't from the States. Like (((N))).

We need to take all those factors into consideration.

And then there are people like PEACH and myself, who are self-proclaimed English butchers! There, their whatever!

In real life, it's easier to explain when something like that happens. You can quickly re-word your statement or say.. do you know what I mean?
But on here...it's brutal.

Edit: I know moon...You are doing a better job than most! :)

lol You mean when mud falls out of my mouth. I quit and walk away before I really screw things up. I'd rather not be heard than misunderstood. The more I try to fix my "mud", the more mired I become in it. haha

It's like the "telephone game"....idea from brain -- to mouth -- to ears -- to other brain... the idea can get "befuddled" along the way. It's not always the mouth that screws up.
