Being a senior, I have not had to confront this issue, but I want to offer condolences to anyone who has.
My question is, do you agree that it is the most devastating loss one could have?

I am often amazed at the answers protestants give regarding certain teachings from the Catholic Church (i.e. purgatory, confession, etc.). I see it all the time and its always the same old tripe: "it was an invention of the dark ages", or "the Council of Trent made it up", or something along those lines. Have you ever studied early christian writings from the first 3 or 4 centuries, by men such as Clement of Rome, Irenaeus, Tertullian, Ignatius of Antioch, Clement of Alexandria, Origen, and others? Did you know that there are hundreds of protestant ministers (yes, ministers) who say that there conversion to the Catholic faith was cemented by reading the writings of these early christians? Do you study such things, or do you just parrot what you read in poorly written anti-Catholic tracts? Study the early fathers - you may be in for the surprise of your life when you find out that the first Christians believe what Catholics believe today.

as far as i know about free will , we are given free will so we won't act like robot right ?

anyway, i can safely say that because of free will , our default destination is hell , and only when we accept Jesus , then we go heaven right?
and because we are given free will , we can choose to go heaven right ?

but if god love us so much , why not also give us the free will , and the default destination is heaven , and we only go hell if we choose to accept certain thing ?

get what i mean ?

when i say accept , i don't mean that when you reject something , you automatically accept the other.

else when we all reject satan , we automatically accept Jesus

When a Christian accepts an award, thanks Jesus, and then performs some song with lyrics that I can't even repeat here, isn't that like doing the same thing - saying in essence, "No one had less to do with this than Jesus"?

Not to sound like a prude, but seems we should look inward instead of only condemning Kathy for such blasphemy...

Not trying to offend, just genuinely want to know what you think.

To work together as a nation to reduce and eliminate abortion by preventing unwanted pregnencies?

We would need education, both on abstinance and other means of preventing pregency.

I know the most liberal of democrats would be more than happy to work towards this goal. Will the right wing go along?

Or will they say that birth control is 'ungodly'. And if they work to deprive us of the tools needed to stop UWP, aren't they guilty of continuing the abortion mills also?

a few months ago I lost my uncle to suicide we were really close. He was very into his faith but felt let down. Now that he's gone I feel let down by faith. I feel like god wasn't there for him and took him away from me. Is this a normal feeling and if it is how do I make it go away?

that spoil the lies? Today I had to stand up for the Church that I have nothing to do with to a born-again co-worker who clearly didn't develop throughly after being born the first time. Anyways so she had these ridculous accusations about catholic doctrine, and it's sad that me an atheist would know more about anything that has to do with the church her sect split from, it's like not knowing where you came from. Anyways I run into situations like this a lot (ignorant protestants) especially since I was raised one of these clowns and was very much misinformed, so I'm wondering before your going to attack the doctrine why don't you guys go to a catechist class to actually learn what the doctrine is!?

It is by grace that you are saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, but it is a gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.

Doesn't that pretty much seal up the debate of who salvation is for?

When you believe in God's Salvation having come to ALL mankind, you are saved.

Then take a look at I Timothy 4:9-10

This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance (and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.

If you believe it is by your faith, or your works, reread Ephesians 2:8-9.

Confess it and believe it, then tell others the truth.

For those still stuck on believing in eternal punishment, check out the meaning of the translation in the greek. It is until the end of a time.

He will never leave you, nor forsake you.

Even hypocrites and those in outright rebellion have THE hope of being reconciled to God.

Death where is thy sting?

Are the funds generated by weekly bingo games at the Catholic Church on the rez returned to the tribal government?

Are those funds dedicated for use by the tribe, or do they go to further Church evangelism?

Question is for Native Americans who've lived on the rez only.

The book " A Wrinkle in Time" was my first glimpse of the world outside of organized religion. And in it's fantasy realm, Mrs. Whatchit, Mrs Who. and the other characters were as real to me as anything I have ever known. Since I read that book, every time I look at the stars, I wonder which ones are my departed friends and family. Are you going to miss Madeleine L'Engle as much as I?

Leona Helmsley in my opinion is the stupidest self-centered ***** ever. She gave her cat 12 million dollars as her will before she died. WTF?? Give it to the poor! Who gives a sh!t about the damn cat, i mean, since she's already dead who knows what the guards will do to the animal. Leona quoted "This money is to insure he lives a long, happy life." Who knows, it might die tomorrow. And where's the money gonna go when the cat dies? Leona seconded her will to the guards of the cat (Who were...already pretty rich at the time, knowing they were Leona's personal servants.)
